Oprah's Sydney Taping

Yay syddis! You'll have to get on here quickly once you're finished taping, and tell us what we can expect! My DH sounded a bit sooky (via email) that I was taking my sister - but she was the one who told me to register in the first place, not him, so too bad!
Will let you know what its like!! It finishes at 12pm. So only have to get someone to take DS to school.

WOW 3,000 in the audience.
Not allowed to take umbrellas - hope the weather is OK for the tapings!!

Congratulations on getting tickets. :thumbsup2 It will be an amazing experience I'm sure. I didn't bother applying as I couldn't get to Sydney for the show even if I got tickets! Have fun! :dance3:

They are filming now in the Outback for the show
Apparently the Opera House will be very hectic for a few days while Oprah is in town!
The weather can be rainy at the time of year ..

My Mum & I got tickets for the afternoon show too! We're definitely looking forward to it - although it's going to be a long day with lots of screaming women!

Busy Busy (what a great name by the way, should be mine LOL) I can assure you that I WON'T be one of those screaming ladies! Maybe I'll just let out a squeal or 2 when I'm drowned out by the crowd :lmao: Congrats on getting tickets, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I'm sure I will!

Thanks Heidi, the name is appropriate for some of us isn't it?! I was typing that message from work (my business - so no boss to freak out at me), and am now typing having just changed all of the sheets on the beds, no rest for the wicked!

I hope there isn't too much screaming at Oprah, I would love to actually hear some of what she has to say!

By the way, are you sick of people telling you that you're going to win a car?! Oprah is fab - but she only ever did that once - and not to 6000 people! I'm excited to go and any little Christmas present that we might be given is just going to be icing of the top of a very wonderful cake!

I always point out that there wll be 3000 of us in each crowd, so there is little chance of us receiving ANY giveaways, let alone a car each! Funny thing is that I seem to be the talk of the neighbourhood. I picked my DD up from her friend's house earlier and her Mum knew, and had been told by someone I don't know, who heard from a friend of mine's SIL - no one else in our area won tickets

Didn't get tickets. But was able to get cheap nights at the Meriton on Pitt St, and cheap airfares, so we're going to Sydney for a few days anyway:cheer2:

Up on Hamilton Island at the moment and we had great excitement today with Oprah being here.

She went out on a boat this afternoon and when she came back there was a small crowd (it felt big being in a little area and opposite the "general store" for anybody who know's hamilton but for Oprah it would have been a small crowd, of maybe around 60 or 80 people) and we were soooo close to her. When she got off the boat, her friend Gail got into the car first and she then decided to come over to the crowd and shook some hands (and shook my friends hand who was beside me) and then talked to some people and a little girl was knocked over in the excitement and she picked her up and asked if she was ok. It was very very exciting. I did get some photos, but haven't uploaded them yet. I was probably about two or three feet away from her :cool1:

It was so exciting and by far the most memorable celebrity spotting I will probably experience. She was just lovely, very friendly and warm.

I think you are in for an amazing show, everybody who has tickets.

Wow, that sounds so exciting, you were so close to them! I look forward to seeing your photos (and from the rest of your holiday - I wish I was on Hammilton Island right now!). It's amazing how much coverage the visit of one lady generates!

Today after work, I was minding my own business and taking the opportunity to grab some shots of Melbourne arcades....

(Royal Arcade)

I decided to go to my favourite arcade in town, the Block Arcade, on Collins Street. Oblivious to the Channel 7 and Channel 10 news crews that were OBVIOUSLY filming outside the Block, I wandered in....

Melbournearcades10Dec10011.jpg

Yup. Oprah is having dinner with her 100 closest friends in the Block arcade. I stayed as long as possible - and was told that the arcade was shut at 6 pm.
The shops were staying opened! Sadly, no one would hire me on the spot.

For those of you that haven't been to the Block, this shop, the Hopetoun Tea Rooms, is one of the main reasons I head here. This is the window display tonight...and it NEVER looks this good....EVER!

They were still setting up the tables when I was escorted out...sure hope the TV cameras weren't still filming....that would be a bad look....

(The other reason is Haighs Chocolate shop, right at the end of the picture).

Note - the table turns around the corner...

And continues all the way down to Elizabeth Street.

I sure hope they are enjoying good food.

ps. Still waiting on Hamilton Island paparazzi to post!!!

Incredible photos Princess. I want one (or all) of those desserts - how great did the display look? I'll now be looking out for media shots of the dinner. I wonder who was cooking for them all?

Have got the tickets and wristbands for the Oprah show now!!
Took 1 hour lining up for them, The Oprah team were filming some of the line.
The stage looks pretty cool.

Got ours too. Also an hour in the line, thank god we were in the shade, as I am burnt enough as it is after this glorious weather! We also saw the last of the Bridge climb, with the chopper filming, and then the groups heading down. Must have been damn hot up there!

No one filmed while we were in line, however Aust and our kids saw Oprah arrive for a quick check of the stage set-up. Me, I was in line still for tickets, so missed seeing her :confused3 Aust got some photos though, which maybe she will post? She got them up on FB before I even arrived home LOL.

Have fun Syddis! And if you get a chance to update on here before the evening taping starts, please do, as I'm dying to know who's appearing on each show.

The boat Oprah came back in on from Whitehaven Beach (was supposed to go out on too, but ended up going out by helicopter)

Photo taken by a friend of mine, she was standing beside me, she has a much better camera than mine, such a great photo! (this photo is not zoomed at all, we were that close)

Brilliant photos of Oprah, Aussietravellers!

I'm at work now, doing 4 hours befoe heading into the city with Aust. I'm a little over-dressed for work compared to usual :lmao: I've left my camera at home but Aust will have hers, and there's always my mobile if I get desperate!

I'm a bit excited!
