on today. It doesn't seem like it's been as heavily advertised this year... this is the first I heard of it.

Living here in Chicago I have always wanted to be on that show, it is hard to figure out when they tape it. All of my shopping would be finished! LOL

I'm taping it. My boss' husband got to be part of the audience. From what I was told it was made up of people who helped out in a grass roots type of way with Hurricane Katrina.

I will be at work when it comes on here. :sad2:

I was just going to ask what type of audience it was. I know teachers got it one year. Our news station in Milwaukee said a bunch of people from Milwaukee are on.

I'll have to watch it. I don't watch her show often, but that is one I never miss.

Thanks for the heads up, I try never to miss her favorite things show.

I think it's nice of her that she does it. But does anyone else get annoyed by how crazy the people in the audience act??

I loved when SNL spoofed that show a couple of years back!

I think i would be a little crazy, too!! She gives away some killer stuff!!

I love Oprah's Favorite Things, but the audience does get annoying. I know they are excited, but it is a little over the top for me.

I went to an Oprah taping last year and the topic was "Spouses Who Commit Murder". One story was a minister who killed his wife and the other story was about a man who stabbed his wife over 50 times and killed their two children. The wife survived and was in the studio to tell her story. Let me tell you, it was about as far from Oprah's Favorite Things as you can get. A very depressing hour.

Oh thanks for the heads up, hopefully, I remember!

I'll be TiVo-ing it. I always watch this episode of Oprah. I remember the year that she had the Incredible Apple (or whatever it's called) - we received one as a gift. It's so good - an apple wrapped in caramel and dipped in chocolate and nuts - mmmm!

Oh geez, everyone needs to Tivo it and fast forward past all the screaming and carrying on. I tried to watch, but within 2 minutes it got on my very last nerve!

Is it me, or did it seem like Oprah was "scaling down" from her other favorite things shows? There just didn't seem to be as much this year as other years. Either that or not as many expensive flashy things.

BTW - For those of you that saw the show, I live near that bakery in Geneva that sells those brownies. She wasn't lyin about how good they are. They are AWESOME!!

It did seem scaled down, but I really liked the new blackberry and the nike shoes

Yummy brownies !!!!!! lucky dog... send some our way.

Are those brownies in Chicago? I will have to watch the show so I can figure out how to get some : )

Just watched the show. Remember the guy in the promo's that looked like a deer caught in headlights? Him and another girl are nurses from Milwaukee.

They assisted Hurricane Katrina victims in Louisiana for 2 weeks. He said he saw on Oprah's website that they were looking for people that assisted or volunteered their time for hurrican victims. He said he submitted their story. He received an e-mail back inviting them to the show. He said he didn't have to show any proof that they did any volunteering. (that sounded fishy to me). He e-mailed back that he would attend the show. 2 tickets came in the mail after he submitted his address.

He said he is e-baying some of the things he can't use-like the pants and sweater, some he is giving away as gifts.

Wouldn't it be sad if he lied about volunteering.

One of my fellow Sunday School classmates was there and he deserved every great thing he received.

3 days after Katrina, he signed up with the Red Cross and he was down there in a week. A month later, he took 3 weeks off work (without pay) to go back. He did all sorts of things and really connected with lots of people. Our SS class helped some with his second trip but he gave lots of time & money just to help those who needed it. We were not able to help very much but he took our prayers with him, too.

He still helps out from a distance and has been quite an advocate to this day.
