Oprah's 12wk Boot camp??

Hey tink just remember it may be muscle you are gaining and that ways more than fat. I bet that is it. Aren't bubble baths the best.

and worse I did it myself! I was feeling kinda "bla" and dared step on the scale and just like you had gained 4lbs! I thought what the heck(not really those words but since this is a FAMILY board!LOL)!

Ofcourse that made things worse because my logic was that if im going to gain weight I might as well eat what I LIKE!

SIGH~ Its back down 1 again. And the whole mind mess was my fault because I usually dont let myself get on the scale until Mondays. I now know I should stick with that. I guess I will see where I am really at tomorrow.

On the good side I think the ladies are right about water or muscle! Because I went shopping day before yesterday(to cheer myself up) and bought some new pants for the trip and guess what I have to take them back for a smaller size! Im really excited again! Who cares what the darn scale says when the pants are smaller, right??!!

Cheer up we CAN do this!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

It is so hard after seeing a weight gain on the scale to not just feel defeated and eat whatever you want....it is so easy to rationalize that! I was out with my 11-year old nephew last night and he, of course, was eating some candy. Being the sweetie that he is, he offered me some. It was hard to trun and say No, Thank You! But, I did. Although later I did give in and eat some nacho chips...there were absolutely no healthy choices at the Fun Center (by the way, it is not so fun for adults... :teeth: ) and I didn't plan ahead and bring something with and after 3.5 hours I was starving. My choices were hot dogs, pizza or nachos. But, yesterday was my double cardio workout day and I did stick to that, so I am not going to beat myself up about it, but if there are a few more pounds on the scale on Thursday at least I can blame the nachos!
And I do hope I am gaining some muscle...the weights are kicking my butt!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend and thanks for the support ladies!

:moped: You all have to run out & get the April Issue of O Magazine - there is article upon article about all sorts of health issues! I am going to digest this magazine today - it looks GREAT! It caught my eye because on the front it says "Oprah's Boot Camp - She answers your diet & fitness questions"!

I really think this is so true!! I don't care what I weigh, if I can wear a size 6 with no fat hanging over the top I will be a happy girl :cool1: :cool1:

Until then I will use the scale as one of a few measures of how I am doing.

SLOWLY, but surely! Another pound down!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

SO, that's 8 1/2 in 3 weeks........ i'm in a groove now - hopefully the next 9 weeks will be smooth sailing! Good Luck Monday weigh-in girls!

Hi everyone!!

I stayed the same this week. I am actually pretty happy with that because I started and I feel really bloated. I did alot better with my exercise last week, and I am going to do even better this week

My friends and I have decided to start the South Beach diet. I know there is a whole thread on it which I will be checking out. I hope those on it don't mind if I ask questions. We are going to start it next Monday because we just started reading the book.

I hope everyone has a great week!! :cheer2:

Hi gang! Hope your all still enthused and continuing on........

Well last week I had a terrible time of it. I steped on the scale on Weds and saw that I had gained 4lbs! Went into a tissy and went shopping to cheer myself up.

This morning Im right back where i started from last Monday. So no gain or loss for me. Four weeks into this and Im still at 7lbs down. On the good side the pants I bought were too big when i got home and I get to go and by a smaller size!! :cool1:

Now that the fourth has ended I can add grains again right? Who is adding them back and how much? I had cereal this morning and I can say I sure missed that. I was thinking of adding it back for only once a day.... ie cereal for breakfast, sandwich for lunch or roll with dinner?? What are some of the rest of you doing.

Another good thing on the progress, Im finally used to potatoes, rice and pasta not being any part of the meals around here. At first that seemed so odd to me but now its quite easy. I still make one of those 2x a week for the kids but even they have really cut down and have added more vegetable to their diet.

Hope your all still encouraged and sticking with me still! Just remember we didnt gain the weight in 4 wks and we cant expect to lose it in 4 wks!!

mshrm - I was also wondering about the whole grains. I get to add them back in after 1 more week. Oprah says to add them back in slowly, but what does that mean? 1x a day? 4x a week? not sure. anyone of you other ladies know how much to add back in?

I added mine back in after 2 weeks... we are going on DCL in a couple weeks and if I was going to have stomach problems from adding grains back in I wanted them on land... I know TMI :rotfl2:

I added in one serving a day, I felt kind of nausous (sp?) The first time I had them but it could have been a coincidence.

Good Luck. :goodvibes

Well, I weighed myself today, and I'm up half a pound from last week. I'm not going to let it get me down -- I've been getting more exercise and weight work than about ever in my life before, and no doubt I'm building up lots of good muscle! I'm focused on the end of the 12 weeks, and I have high hopes of happy results!

I moved on to heavier hand weights, and can really feel the difference!

Hope everyone has a sensational start to their week!!

:cool1:

don't worry about the gain. I had 1/2 pound gain after 2 weeks...but on week 3 I had a loss again...i have a feeling it is going to be losses from here on out (after you get past that hump of building the initial muscle). This is really exciting! I went out today and bought ankle weights to step up my walks....I can't wait to try them!

Hi Everyone! I just signed up for the Oprah challenge! I think this will be the thing that I need to get myself back in gear. I hope it's not too late to join up!

Thanks Stephanie! I'm looking forward to doing this! Planning to get to the gym today after work. I am, however, dreading the scale.

About to head over and post in my journal. Time to start that back up again too.

I'm checking in this morning. I can't believe it's been a month. Someone asked me last night how tough it was to give up the whole grains for a month and honestly after the first week it wasn't bad. Now I'm at the point that even though I can, I don't want to add them back.

I'm down 2 pounds this week and I don't want my loss to slow. I'm on a mission! I have now lost 104 pounds and have only 25.5 pounds to go to get to goal so in keeping with Oprah's suggestion, I will only have grains 3 times per week and probably not even that many. I'm skeered of them now!

I hope everyone else is doing well!

zeraspride: Oprah suggested only 3 times a week for grains? I was wondering aobut that. Next week I add them in & I want to do OATMEAL! I miss oatmeal. But...I will do it just 3 times a week. Now - is that 3 times a week for the remainder of bootcamp?

Welcome Desiree! And good luck glad to have you on board!

Ok so we are going to try grains 3x a week. That sounds pretty good to me. Also does whole wheat past count as a grain or a white product??

Good luck all hope this week is going well for us all! :flower:

Congrats to all the Losers this week! Thursdays are my weigh-in day and I went to step on the scale yesterday and at the last second I decided not to get on it??!!!! I am scared of the scale. :rotfl: I just don't want to see any more weight gain.....just like last week. So, I decided to skip this week and just keep on plugging away. I was just afraid that if I saw the scale did not budge or worse I gained again, I would throw in the towel. I felt so defeated last week, I just didn't want to feel that way again. The workouts are feeling great though and I physically feel stronger than I ever have so no matter what that is a step in the right direction!
Everyone keep up the good work.... :sunny:
