I am not a member of the "Church of Oprah".

At one time there was discussion she could be a secret Scientologist or another troublism cult-like religion. Alot of the words she uses & all the "me" stuff is similar. Wish I could remember what the other religion was. Darn.

The recent Obama endorsement has me worried about all her brainwashed followers.

I think it is creepy the way her followers seem to treat her like some kind of God.

I don't like her either. It seems like 10 or so years ago she was ok. Now, she's just too....well, I don't know what, but I don't like her.

DITTO on the philosophy that there are enough poor,hungry and undereducated kids in this country that could have used that money. The same goes for Jolie, Pitt and Madonna. After all you made your money in THIS country!!!! Pitt did go to New Orleans and that was great but losts of kids here need help.All these AIDS in Africa charities- give me a break. Take care of our own first!

You really feel that way? People are dying left and right from AIDS in Africa. Young people, children. I think it is a very worthy cause.
Although I am not a huge Oprah fan -I don't see the problem with someone giving money to charity.

I'm not an Oprah fan, but I do respect what she has done with her life, it is an inspirational story. She's become a very powerful person, and she's worked her way there, nothing was given to her.

I think she donates a lot of money, both domestic and international, and she has chosen to take certain causes, such as AIDS in Africa, and highlight the situation there. I see nothing wrong with that.

I haven't been a fan for awhile now (10 years). While most find her uplifting and inspirational, watching her makes me feel bad about myself. I know I could never live up to her standards, and I don't need my nose rubbed in it everyday.

Well - I'm not into the adoration of Oprah, but I think it's admirable that she has come from nothing to her multi-million dollar empire. I like the charities that she has sponsored. More celebrities should give back the way she does.

I don't know. The older I get the more I think one should fall in love with oneself. Long story. Will probably be misunderstood.

Anyway, I like Oprah. Not perplexed that anyone doesn't like her. To each their own. But I am perplexed by the level of emotion behind some of the responses.

And even if I didn' t like her I do agree that her money is her money. Spend as one wishes.

I would have liked to see her help children here in the US that need clothes, a place to live and a good school-instead of setting up an Oprahtown in another country.

Personally, I'd rather see local and state governments provide adequate schools and education for American children.

Her money, her choice, as someone else noted. And kudos for trying to make the world a better place.

I don't watch her show (guess I'm not "white, pretentious, or yuppie" enough ), but I certainly admire her generosity and good will. And certainly I'd rather people be fascinated with her than a celebrity who's only interest is shopping and going to night clubs.

I used to be a huge Oprah fan. I still like her somewhat, but rarely watch her as when I do she tends to annoy me now. I think my turning point was when I got to see her show in person. I was really excited but I have to say she wasn't that great in person. I was sitting on the side, right where she comes in and as she walked through the door, I heard her pop off to some poor employee. She came into that show like a queen greeting her subjects. And people just went wild, some of these women cried. Gimme a break. In any case, my bubble burst. I do admire her many achievements and what she does for others but she is just a little too pretentious and in love with herself these days.
