Oprah surprise....SPOILER......

I live in Chicago and her surprise has been discussed on the radio station I listen to for the past two days, and a Sun Times columnist (Sneed) has been talking about.

To confirm the Sneed rumor, a listener of the radio station went by Harpo Studios this morning on his way to work.

The parking lot is mostly covered with tarps.....over about 100 brand new cars that Oprah is giving to her audience to celebrate going into her 19th year.

I hadn't really heard about there even being a big surprise until sometime this week. But new cars?? That is really wonderful for those audience members. But how is that such a huge surprise for the rest of the world . Surely there is some other surprise.

I bet it is "just" the cars - but I agree that it's not all that thrilling for the folks watching at home - at least not enough to warrant all the hype.
Very exciting for the folks lucky enough to be in audience that day to be sure. I'm happy for them but not something I'd plan my day around to watch.
It's just like the give-away shows. I like to watch those to see what her picks are - but sheesh, it's getting so more than half of the show is the audience crying, screaming and jumping up and down - seems to be a bit out of hand in my opinion.

My husband doesn't enjoy the shows where people get surprised and win something but I love them!! I sit with my box of tissue and am smiling ear to ear as I watch the surprise and joy on the faces of the winners. It uplifts me and brightens my day to watch someone experience such good fortune. What a generous gift - 100 cars. Someday I want to go to Oprah (wouldn't mind winning something but really just to be at a taping).

Well, I think she could have spent her MILLIONS on something else, like USA Hunger, Humane Society, etc. Not give out Cars to people who probably don't need it.
