Opposition from Friends, Family & Advisors

I recently got a PI and my half of my family is VERY against me going because I graduate with my BS this May and they think I should be in a job that pays better. They have a good point because of student loans...buuuuut I'd regret it my whole life if I turned a PI down so I'm going to do it anyways! All of my professors and student teaching supervisors are all about it...hopefully it'll turn out to be a great experience!

my mom was pushing me to do this. she wanted this more then i did!! my family is really excited. they feel like its going to be a great experience that i will never forget.

i am having some problems with my boyfriend though. hes not too happy that i am leaving for that long. but hes being supprotive and not saying anything too negative about this whole thing.

*Sigh* My friend, who's been inspired by Disney to draw all her life and her DREAM is to ultimately work for Disney got accepted into the program under her first choice. Needless to say, I was VERY happy for her! That's soo awesome. She, of course, was ecstatic!

I get a text last night saying her mum basically doesn't want her to go and that she has responsibilities at home. She's crushed and didnt go into the details of what her mother told her...

This sucks hardcore. I have NO idea what to say to her! I'm so upset, angry and sad for her.

My mom is so excited for me. My cousin did the program and got a really good job because they were impressed he did the DCP and then the DPI. She knows how excited I am. But my dad is another story. He is trying to find every way to keep me out of the program.
Basically, I wouldn't be doing the program if I didn't believe that it wasn't worth my time, which it will be : ] I know my dad will eventually come around (especially when he comes to visit me hahah because I know he will).
It just kind of sucks because he was the only one not happy for me (even my advisor was excited for me....haha kind of random)
I am glad I am not the only one who felt opposition
