DH and I are in the process of planning our first trip with our son to WDW. He will be one when we go and DH and are debating where to stay. Unfortunately, money IS a concern at this time, so all deluxes are out. AND we are seriously hoping for codes or AP rates for late August.

So, I'm being the cost-concious one (for once) and I want to stay at All Star Movies, hopefully in the Toy Story section. DH wants to stay at a moderate, probably Caribbean Beach. I'm not opposed to a mod (not at all! Our first choice would be the Contemporary) - but I think the ASMo would be so awesome for the little one. DH says there will be stimulation all over WDW for him, but I think we'll be spending more time at the resort than we have on previous trips and I just think the theming and the pools at ASMo are soooooo bright and colorful that our one year old will LOVE it!

However, there is one other very slight possibility - a two bedroom villa at OKW. I say slight because my parents might go and our best friend might go. That means splitting the cost of the room 3 ways.....and if we can get an AP rate or code, maybe we could swing the villa.

Anyway, what do you all think? I'd love to hear all opinions. Thank you!!!!!!

I with you that All-Star Movies would be perfect for a one year old. It has playgrounds and big icons and kiddie pool and food court wish is perfect for picky eaters. Trust on this one. I am picky eater and I love the place.

But if codes comes and CBR is the same price as the All-Star Movies I say go for it.

If not go for the All-Star Resorts.

We did ASMu when our first son was about 18 months old and it was terrible! We got stuck in a building that was really far from the bus stop, the hallways were noisy, the room above us was noisy, the pack n play would barely fit in the room, we felt really cramped with just the 3 of us, the food court was yucky, check-in was a nightmare, it was just a bad experience for us. :(

I would DEFINITELY do CBR. You'll have a shorter walk to your bus stop, the resort is much more quiet, the food court is better, the landscaping and pools are nicer, it's just much better in my opinion. :)

Of course OKW would be great too. We split a 2 bedroom with dh's mom... we took the master bedroom and she slept in the other bedroom with the boys... it was great! :) She also did some babysitting for us and did the laundry every day. ;)

Another vote here for renting DVC points and staying in a studio. The Pack-N-Play is already in the room, and because the second bed is a sleeper sofa rather than a bed there's plenty of room for the crib. You'll also get the minifridge, microwave, and coffeemaker, which will save you a ton of $$ on breakfasts.

If you can go in September rather than August, a renting points for a week in a studio will run you $800-$1200, and you don't have to pay tax. Not a bad price for what is essentially a deluxe room.

If it comes down to CBR or ASMo, I would go with ASMo. Not only will you save money on the room, but I think the resort would end up being more convenient. I never stayed at CBR, but have stayed at CSR, which is somewhat similar in its layout. Though our CSR building was very close to the main building, we walked around the resort and found many of them to be very far away. Yes, they have a bus stop back there, but if you want to go to the food court you'll have a big walk. At the All Stars even if you're in one of the last buildings out, it's still closer than at CSR since CSR was much more spread out. Also, with the money you save on the room you'll be able to get that supercute suovenir for your son.

I really don't think your son will remember the trip..... My kids barely remember our last WDW trip and they were 5 & 4. Pick whichever hotel will suits your needs the best.
