Opinions wanted. - Update post 84

I like #2 better because I like the "great room" concept. It allows more flexibility (i.e., if you want to use the majority of the space for living room and just have a little table, you can do that, whereas if your LR/DR are seperate, there's so little flexibility there.) I'm not a fan of formal dinig rooms seperate from the rest of the house. Unless you do a lot of formal dinner entertaining, it seems more "social" to have a big open room where people can congregate. And to me, for a townhome, the kitchen seems to be a good size. Good luck and congratulations!!!

First off, I prefer #2, so I'm going to be biased here. :rotfl:

The one thing that concerned me about #1 was the kitchen/living room setup. It looks like there's a breakfast bar. You'll be pretty locked in with furniture placement since you really only have two functional walls. Plus, I wouldn't like having a breakfast bar on one side of the house, and the dining room on the other side.

You also lose wall space in the master bedroom in option #1 due to the double closets, etc. Can you tell I'm all about the wall space? :rotfl2:

Since it is just the two of you, you could easily convert the second bedroom upstairs into a huge closet/dressing room area if you wanted to, especially if you took #2 with that extra room downstairs. That way, you wouldn't feel like you lost that second closet in the master or lost the room itself.

I like floor plan one for the 2nd floor but floor plan 2 for the ground floor...

If I had to choose I would say #1...Good luck. :thumbsup2

UPDATE:

Dear SO's step mom looked at both of our top choices, 1 and 2, she liked number 2 better but number 1 was nice as well. There are only 2 number 2's left and they are not available until Nov and Dec.

Someone's financing fell through, so one unit will be 100% completed at the end of March, they viewed it yesterday, but of course the people who picked out the unit already had all of their customizations and they picked out everything WHITE. White walls, white stove, they didn't get the lanai covered, white tile floors over the entire downstairs, white berber carpet upstairs, white counters. Everything was WHITE, BRIGHT WHITE! Yikes it was too much (they sent pictures).

Another one is supposed to be opening up to close in June (when we want to move anyway) so we are hoping to have to realtor get in touch with the lady today about seeing if it's still early enough in the game to pick our own customizations. Wish us luck!

Another voice of doom here.....are you REALLY REALLY dead set on this development. Someone upthread mentioned an end unit - IMHO that is worth the price in gold. You get 3 sides of your unit exposed to sunlight and Its great for resale. I love light in my home. Have you considered anywhere else where you can get the corner unit. Those are usually hard to come by, but oh so worth it.

Looks like we will be moving to Florida in option 1 at the end of June. Now we've got to decide on flooring and what not.

It has a view of the pond :)

Congrats hon! I'm glad to hear that you are getting to make your dreams come true. I wish you and your SO the best of luck. You ladies are lucky to have each other. You guys are going to love this area, especially since you won't be far from YBOR city, a great little down town area. Has a lot of nice restraunts and clubs.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: How about Party at Icebrats house in August! It's going to take a lifetime for the movers to get from California to Florida and we still have to paint the walls. That is unless this is the kind of party where all your friends get painters arm. :thumbsup2 :scratchin

So... What are we having? I see Margarita's, chip and dip, what else? :cheer2:

I like it!!!! :thumbsup2 I disagree with all the poster saying they would want to swap the living/dining. We are building a house and I designed it, so you walked into a foyer, kinda like yours, and then the dining room, kitchen to the left, open to the living room on the right. Our old house you walked RIGHT into the living room and I HATED it. The traffic on your carpet(which of course, is also why my new house will not have carpet) is horrible. Within a year of putting in new carpet there was a visable wear path from people walking across the living room from the front door into the rest of the house. I like your floor plan, it looks spacious for 2 people, even more and it's inviting. :thumbsup2
