I'm planning a pre-cruise week at WDW in the first week of October 2012 with my sister and brother-in-law and I'm looking for some opinions on where to stay... We are (relatively) poor 20-somethings but we will not survive the week if we stay in one standard room. We are considering three options: two rooms at a value (or possibly the Swan or Dolphin if my sister can get a good staff rate - not always possible with Food and Wine) a family suite at ASMu or Animator's so that we each have a bedroom and a door that closes ;) or renting points for a one-bedroom at one of the DVC resorts.

As I said all opinions welcome and any other suggestions are appreciated. We would prefer to stay on site.

TIA

Suites at ASM mean only one bedroom and someone is on the couch. Plus it is more expensive than two rooms at a value. I am not sure about Art of Animation suites but assume price is similar. I say go with the two rooms.

Two rooms at Swan & Dolphin get my vote. IMO three adults would be more comfortable in two rooms and if I were traveling w/o children I would pick S&D over the Disney mods.

Depending on how much the Swan and Dolphin is ... you might want to consider two rooms at POFQ ... they have queen beds now ....

Doesn't sound like you would really be happy at a value resort ...

The POFQ is small, quaint, has very nice grounds ... might be an option for you to consider.

Renting points, depending on the price is an option but be sure availability for when you want to go is not an issue.

I would rather rent DVC and stay at a nice resort than the values

My opinion, stay at the CBR but in differant buildings, everyone will be much happier.:rotfl:

Thanks so much for all the answers... I hadn't considered the cabins... I'll have to check prices on those too. The brother-in-law is great with a grill and that could be a really nice night. Hadn't considered two rooms at a moderate but I suppose that's a possibility though we are on a pretty tight budget with a week ling cruise on the Fantasy the following week.
Has anyone stayed at the Hilton at DTD? how were the rooms there? I understand that you still get EMHs but are there shuttles to the parks or is it best to rent a car - if we rent and stay at the Hilton I guess we'd also have to figure in the cost of parking at the parks every day.

I'd do 2 rooms at Swan/Dolphin or rent DVC points--but I take any chance I get to stay in the Epcot resort area (love being able to walk to two parks!).
