Each year the dance studio my daughter has been going to for 12 years allows parents to purchase 1/4, 1/2 or full page "ads" to congratulate their dancer on a great year.

This is the first time I will be doing it. I wanted to make something that looks professional and really stand out and catch peoples eye. The entire program is filled with photos and text - mostly snapshots or scanned photos with last years dance costumes.

OK - give it to me straight. I have until Friday to turn this in.

One word.... WOW!!! :thumbsup2

OK- I'll add a few more words- it totally achieves your goal. Very professional, classy and the right level of sentimental-ness with the few choice pics you added.

If I were a fellow dance family- I'd be giving you a call to create one for my daughter rather than some of the cut/paste jobs I've seen in the back of similar programs.

Well done!

Jennifer, Don't change a thing. It's beautiful.

Very nicely done! How do you get the reflection? Are you using a piece of plexiglass over your backdrop or are you photoshopping that in?

I am amazed by the progress you have made with your portrait work over the past year. Beautiful! You should be very proud of your work!

Thanks everyone. :goodvibes

Steve's Girl - yes it is a large sheet of plexiglass I just put on the floor over a king sized white sheet from wal-mart - had the other king sized sheet hanging from my backdrop stand. The fun part came when I realized Emily on pointe is too tall and I was going to have to do some serious cloning to get enough background to make it look like it was supposed to. So we lifted the backdrop up high enough to just go past her fingertips. That left about a foot wide gap between the bottom of the hanging sheet and the sheet on the floor.

Gotta love those clone and dodge tools. :thumbsup2

I really tried hard to come up with something to change but it all looks great. Very well done!

Looks great Jen! Hope you get some business out of it...

it is very well done, my only thought is...is it a congratulatory add, or a business add..??

I think I would pay for 2 adds, one with business info, one without, that way your daughter has the staright congrats add, for her scrapbook, and you also plug your business...

I love the big pic on the left! Great job!

The bottom right pic - is it selective coloring? If not, it looks like it is. She looks grey to me.

It is meant to be both - but primarily for Emily. Doing two ads would be ideal - but would also cost me $200.00 :scared:

No it is not selective coloring - I turned all but the ballet (big) pic black and white and then added 75% of the color back (with the exception of the pointe shoes - they only have something like 25-30% of the color put back in). I didn't want them to stand out as much as the larger ballet photo - she has a special featured part in the opening ballet production number - so that dance has a bit more of a special meaning to her.

And I agree - she does look a little grey. I have never done anything like this before - I am learning - slowly - but I am learning. ;)

hmm with that additional info I'd do one add too....wow,

maybe the business part just a little smaller so the congratulatory text is more prominent..

and I should add, with over 25 years of attending dance recitals.. I must say that is by far the nicest add I've ever seen...:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Ok so I took some of the suggestions here and revised the ad. How is this one? Better? Worse? About the same?
