Opinions wanted- June or August?

We got back from DW in November last year and I am already pre-planning our next trip! Due to school and my co-workers attitude when we went at Thanksgiving last year, I am thinking about scheduling the next trip in the summer. I really don't want to do that, but it is better than not going at all and we would be able to stay a day or 2 extra.

I am looking at either the 2nd week of June (7-16th) or August (9-18th). Would one week be better than the other? I know it would be hot, it will be crowded and there is a larger threat of hurricanes. (I will definantly do trip insurance on this one, I think!) Also, how would these weeks compare to Thanksgiving week w/ the crowd size?

I think we would stay in a value or moderate for a few days and then switch to the Poly. We would have rest days and know how to avoid the crowds and all that.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!! TIA!

In June there are very few hurricanes. You would have to be concerned about that in August.

In August most Florida schools are back in session.

We've been during both. I would choose June only because of the hurricanes. The hurricane might only cause you to loose one day, but one day of vacation is huge to me.

We travel from the UK every August because of the school holidays, if your dates were a week or two later I would definitely say August as the crowds are much lighter from the middle of the month.

Hurricanes, yes they are a risk but we have never been affected yet.

That time in June may be slightly busier than the week in August...Star Wars Weekend is June 9-11. August will probably be slightly hotter and more humid, but less rainy than June. It's kind of a toss up. Crowds on either week will be more than at Thanksgiving.

A big vote for June. The crowds may vary but only a bit with end of August a little less crowded but not enough to ever make me want to go in August again. June is not as oppressive as August. The Florida sun and the heat are really tough when you are keeping up Disney pace all day or waiting in the sun for the parade ... then you get the daily late afternoon thunderstorm that gives way to steambath level humidity all evening. The mosquitoes are worse in August too!
