I am running a baseball raffle to raise money for next years team. We are having a spaghetti dinner/raffle and wanted to do door prizes. Do you think that if I made sets of homemade cards/envelopes they would make good door prizes? Not sure if people would think they were hoaky. We would have other things too, but I am trying to get two prizes per hour so I need 8 all together. Any other ideas?

As long as they are 'generic' - not sex specific - I think they would be appreciated.
I love to get creative cards - I have a friend who does her own and they are beautiful...I always look forward to getting them.

I think it's a good idea. I would love to win a raffle with homemade cards, it would save me time in having to make my own. Maybe you could do a few different sets, like general cards (sorry, thank you, blank, etc), holidays, special occasions (birthday, anniversary, etc), notecards, etc. That might give you some different prizes to offer at a few different times throughout the night.

thanks. Maybe I will do 6 to a variety pack including thankyou/bday/bestwishes/thinkingofyou/hello/chbday.....does that sound ok?

I will only do three packages and will search the city for other donations for prizes.

There was a thing on DIY Scrapbooking about making a set of cards that was really cute. The cards were nothing special, but she had packaged them in a tin lunchbox she decorated with cardstock and ribbon that was really cute. It sounds like a really nice idea and I was thinking of making my mom a lunchbox full of homemade cards for her birthday.

I HOPE people won't think they are hoaky! My GS troop (Seniors) are in the midst of making about 5 dozen Christmas and all occasion cards that they hope to sell as part of a Christmas Tea fundraiser for our trip to Europe!

Thanks for the postive input, I just worry too much about other peoples reactions.

Off to stamp, cut and package cards.

I am running errands today and maybe our local dollar store will have something I can use along that line. cool.....my creative juices are flowing now. Off to shop!

I have also seem them "packaged" in a cloth placemat. The placemat ends up looking like a pocket folder and there are ribbons stitched on the side to tie it shut with.

I have made a " Hello" card in browns with fiber and magic mesh, a best wishes card in yellows with ribbon and chalking, a birthday card in reds with brads, a blank inside card that is bright blue and orange flowers, and a blank inside card with heart paper clips and ribbons. One more design to go and it will be in Navy and masuline. I got little cellophane envelopes at work to put them into. Each envelope holds two cards facing outward. I will bundle them together with ribbon and place them into a gift bag. Keeping costs down as we are trying to make money on this raffle, not spend it. :)

Thanks for the helpful tips girls!

Good luck with your raffle/card making project! Hope all goes well with your fundraiser!

I need to raise approx 5,000 dollars. LOL!!! We are doing a dinner, a raffle, a 50/50 board and I am holding a CM raffle by myself where half the money goes to the team and the other half to the local homeless shelter. My CMC is being very supportive and allowing me to sell my tickets at the all day crop. The whold prize is CM product so I hope to sell about 100 tickets. So far I have sold 16....long way to go.
