We're doing a 4 night split stay in Dec.Arriving 9-10 PM on a Fri. night (1 night ! bdrm @OKW)and then 3 nights 1 Bedrm SSR.

I was thinking that it would make more sense to cancel those 26 pts for the 1 night OKW,and stay in a hotel close by and just head over to SSR the next morning.
What would you do?

If you're not using ME. driving or renting a car, that's what I'd do. Even better would be to get the extra night at SSR all as one stay.

We're flying and renting a car Dean.I've been looking everyday for that friday night to magically appear, but I'm not holding my breath.

It just seemed to me that it was a lot of points to spend for what amounts to just a place to sleep for the night.

I frequently struggle with that since we fly from the West Coast and unless we're doing a red eye we can get there no earlier than 4PM and most often it's around 10PM. If we get the same resort it's a no brainer and we just get our room and our set for our entire stay. Otherwise we have frequently gotten a studio for that first night but we've done an OKW 1BR too. That's one of the less expensive options and places us onsite for the first night and ready to go in the morning. Overall those reasons leave me ok with the premium. Only if I were short of points or just had some place else we wanted to try would I go a cash route someplace else.

Personally I'd stay off property and go over early AM. Get something you can cancel and keep looking for the extra night.

We found a nice resort /spa not far from DTD and can cancel till Dec.10 with a Dec.12 arrival.Just to keep our options open we haven't cancelled our 1 night at OKW yet.

Kathy,
A studio would work great except there's nothing available that night. We are in a 1 bedroom OKW for what amounts to a sleepover and then moving to SSR. To be that seems to be a waste of 26 points.

I'd stay off site in this case -

You have to move either way

You won't have time to enjoy the resort since you're arriving quite late

You are driving

You should be able to find something off site that is relatively inexpensive

Hope you are lucky enough to find a 1 bedroom at SSR for your missing night. That would be idea and there's still time. Good luck!
