Opinions Please!!!

I went with a diamond, though I really like your emerald as well. Try them both on, then you will know for sure. As for stone colorings, you can fine a range of shades in naturally mined or lab created. Lighter doesn't always mean mined and darker created. Also, lab created is not the same as synthetic or fake. Lab created gems are the same minerals as the mined ones, the formation process is just sped up in a controlled laboratory setting, hence the clearer, less included stone.

Princess Diana's engagement ring was a sapphire and diamond ring.

They are both beautiful rings. But ot be honest, you need to pick what you want and know you would love for 50 years and not put so much weight on our opinions. We don't have to wear it.

Either way you will have a gorgeous ring form the man you want to spend the rest of your life with.

Good luck and I can't wait to hear what else you have planned!

Thank you for your post :goddvibes: you are 100% right, it will be jsut for me.

I think I will most definitely go for a diamond ring. As it will be timeless and hopefully even my granddaughters will like it so they can have it when I'm gone. :)

There's a chance that I will be getting my grandmother's solitaire diamond engagement ring (she is very ill) and I will have it reset like the one above as my grandad was the kindest man I've ever met (along with Jack) and if Jack turns out half the husband he was then I know I'll be happy forever.

So it would really mean the world to me.

But obviously her recovering would be my preference.

I like diamonds...:goodvibes
both are pretty tho..So, my suggestion...Get the diamond for the engagement ring and the emerald as your wedding gift for your right hand. Best of both worlds! :thumbsup2

I went very non-traditional - sort of! Tim proposed in Goa and we had a diamond ring made. It is like a half-eternity in 18kt yellow gold with diamonds that are princess-cut and channel set. It's got unusual detailing in the gold which makes it unique. I tried platinum and white gold but they looked very cold against my skin, particularly with diamonds in. I also tried rings with coloured stones and didn't like them on, even though they looked great in the cabinet.

I didn't want gold but it looked so good.

I also don't want a separate engagement and wedding ring so this one is my 'all in one' and looks perfect.

I bought a cheap one that is similar to my real one to get married in - it is similar to the bottom one here:

The thing is, I had something completely different to what I thought I would have so I would definitely recommend trying them one before you make up your mind :goodvibes

Wow, Goa, how amazing!! :)

I've tried on the first one twice, and its great, so I'll have to go and try the emerald too.

Sorry this is a bit :offtopic: but Goa was great. We knew within a week of meeting each other that we would get married and about 10 years later we made it official - one-knee and then the ring followed - and my Mom on the other end of the phone!

My ring is worth over 3 times what we paid for it in India too, which isn't important to me but it sure was a nice surprise!

Good luck with the ring choice :goodvibes

Just throwing in one more bit of information. Emeralds are very soft gems and not ideal for wearing everyday because of it. I can't tell you how often I manage to knock my ring into something during everyday live - an emerald would never survive!
