I would love to hear where everyone has had a great meal or just a fun time lately. Any of the hotels or parks or City Walk can be included. Tell me where and what you ate....thanks! I especially love desserts...anything memorable?:D

You must go to NBA City. We always passed on it because we wondered how good the food could be if it was based on basketball. We were wrong to judge it. It was the best meal we had at Universal. Especially go if you like desserts, they have strawberries fried in cinammon and sugar. Trust me, get those. Best dessert I ever had. And the regular menu is great too.

Also I would recommend Hard Rock, Margaritaville, The Palm, Mama Dellas, and The Enchanted Oak.

Mittman,

Will put NBA City on the list (I love strawberries). Hard Rock and Margarittaville are always on the list for lunch. I have not tried the Palm or The Enchanted Oak. Mama della's, we love this restaurant and always have a great time there. Thanks so much, I really appreciate your reply:)

Mike,

Had lunch once at ThunderFalls and we had so much fun watching the boats come down. The food was very reasonable and good. We will do this one again! Is this where they have that flat bread? Oh and roasted corn I think?

Never tried USF's Monster Cafe. The Chocolate/Cappicino Parfait sounds yummy! Thanks so much:)

More please!

I agree with Mittman about the strawberry dessert at NBA city...that was really yummy!!! :)

For a sit-down restaurant, Mythos is a wonderful choice! The desserts there are a work of art! ;)

Depending on the time of year you visit, certain restaurants may not be operating, I know that both Thunder Falls and Monster Cafe are two that were closed last year alot during off-peak times. So keep that in mind when planning....Mythos tends to only be open for lunch during off-peak, too.

We always enjoy a cheeseburger in paradise at Margaritaville, they have the "porch of indecision" outside to dine on, and it's a nice place to sit and relax and watch the crowds file out of IOA ;) They usually have some sort of music out there at night as well!

Karen :smooth:

MYTHOS!!!
In July I had the Corvina ( a fish similar to sea bass). It was incredible!
Also had the pork sandwich --it was also fantastic. Also tried the pizza. These were separate meals--not all at once. Then let us not forget the warm, gooey, banana chocolate cake!! There are no words to describe that!!!!

Thunder Falls was closed two weeks ago.

Thunder Falls Terrace in Jurassic Park won't reopen any time soon either. Maybe for peak season in December..

I would avoid the hardrock unless you like paying extra hard-earned money on sub-standard bar food. I guess if you have kids and like all the rock memorabilia, it's worth it. For a hard-core ex-raver/techno freak like me who only listens to dance, jazz and classical...well, let's just say I've had better meatloaf and dining experiences at Denny's.

Shameless plug- Mythos! We really are the best restaraunt at Universal. We make everything to order from fresh ingredients. Nothing's frozen or pre-packaged. Our executive chef, Steve Jayson was the 200 ACF chef of the year. Top that Emeril. BAM!

I'm sorry to say, Thunder Falls is closed till who knows, probably Thanksgiving weekend. They are building a haunted house (Fear Factor) for HHN right inside.

Thanks so much everyone for the replies. Your opinions and info are a huge help to me.

MsDisney,

Mytho's is now on the list! All you had to do was say desserts. Do they offer a kids menu? Thanks for the heads up on restaurants not all being open off peak. I was wondering if you think Dec 12-16 would be a slow time? We also love eating outside at Margarittaville, people watching at its finest. Sometimes thats the best entertainment . Thank You:)

gschmerl,
Another Mythos fan! That gooey banana dessert has my attention:eek: Thanks

Cindy and Judge, Thanks for the heads up on Thunder Falls. Maybe we will get lucky.

TheSecondCook,

Your place sounds like a winner for sure! No shameless plug needed. Look at all the people that love it! Since I never crave a Dennys meal I'm thinking we have many other options and can skip Hard Rock this time around. Would you be so kind and suggest a favorite meal at Mythos? Thank You:)

MIB999999,

MYTHOS......Okay! Gotcha and thanks:)

Now a few questions....

Anyone eat at Latin Quarter? What did you think? What about the food at RPR? anyone?

Would love to hear more.

Dec. 12-16 would definitely be a slow time...the week after Thanksgiving until the week before Christmas is one of the slowest times of the year...but fun because they have holiday decorations up and special holiday events running!
The pitfall is shorter park hours...but the cooler weather and light crowds make it worthwhile for sure! :)

Mythos does have a kids menu...my personal favorite on there (I know, I order it for ME sometimes!) is the Apple Jack Chicken...it's very good. They also have ravioli...and honestly, not sure what else, but they definitely try to make the kids feel special! They are great about substituting mashed potatoes or homemade chips for the fries or vice versa too. Don't be afraid to ask if something you might like has an ingredient that scares you, the chefs there are great about making it your way whenever possible! :)

If you have an AP or AAA don't forget to whip them out for discounts at the restaurants too! :)

Karen

MsDisney,

Thank You again:)
I am so looking forward to seing all the decorations. We Visited 2 years ago during the Holidays and this time of year is by far my favorite. Thanks for the Mytho's info. My kids will love the apple jack chicken...I may have to have a bite too.

I am a AAA member....thats great!:bounce: Didnt think about using it at the restaurants.

dcookies.....That link is awesome!! I took a peek and I am gonna have a field day reading all the menus. Thanks for the link:D

For kids meals at Mythos...

My daughter had the One Fish Two Fish ravioli, and ate it all.

(She's allergic to apples/so couldn't do the Apple Jacks chicken)

DS had pizza and it was good and he ate all of it.
(It was big too!)

The chocolate banana cake is incredible... it is heaven on a fork.

Yup....we keep telling entertainent to keep the doors closed...they wonder why photos of the mazes are all over the internet...

Just to clarify something that nWo_Thunder posted - all of our new photos at IOACentral are taken with digital cameras. All of the pictures I took on my last trip were with a digital camera, and all of the pictures rocketman23 allows us to use are also taken with a digital camera.
