Opinions please! To DVC or not?

Hi,

I am considering changing my June trip from rack rate at POR to buying points to stay at a DVC. The price is a pretty good deal and I can stay at a deluxe for about the same as what I'm paying for POR or a little more, depending on the resort. Has anyone rented the points? How are the DVC villas? Is it any different than staying in the main resort? Are there cons to renting a DVC? The price just seems to good to be true.
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

We are renting points for our Nov trip. The cons are, if you are going this June, it may be quite difficult to get a dvc room at this late date and you will have to pay in full when the reservation is confirmed. Renting involves trust, that is one reason that the price is so good. The reservation is never in control of the renter and you have to go through the owner with any changes. If you rent, use someone who has been on the boards for a while. We are working with two great owners. We even had to change dates and they had no problems with it. The pros are, the great accomodations for very reasonable prices, the ability to get the dining plan w/out having to buy passes (great for people with APs), you pay for the dining plan at check-in, large rooms. We never would have been able to stay in a deluxe if not for DVC owners willing to rent.

ETA: You do not get daily mousekeeping unless you pay an additional fee. I believe you get the free mousekeeping only on days 4 and 7.

Here's my take on the subject. IF I could get BCV, BWV or VWL...I would do it again! You're right, you can get a deluxe experience for the same cost. For instance, can you imagine paying the same for BCV as you would pay for a moderate? Just keep in mind that there isn't maid or towel service everyday and if you don't like your room for some reason, there is a $25 change fee.
