I will make it short.
We have our plane tickets for May 9th.-19th..
We have booked a 4 day Wonder cruise for May 9th off ship early on the 13th..
Here's my Problem" We can get a catagory 6 with a verahanda on deck 6 including taxes, transfers, insurance and port charges for $2089.00 but we would have to spend the next 7 days in in a Value hotel in hopes with a AP rate. Or we can stay for the 4 nite cruise inside standard room with one bathroom on deck 6 for $1059.00. It will just be DH and I. I know the rooms are smaller and this is the frist time every for us cruising on any ship. But if we stay in the cat.11 deck 6 we can use that extra almost $1,000.00 for a moderate or deluxe hotel for the 7 day on Disney Property with an AP hopefully!! I would love a veranda but we would have to skim on our hotel. I checked the port hole rooms and they are a little over $1,500.00.. I just need to know what cruisers feel and maybe it will help me feel what I should do.. We still need Passes and food and spending money. My Sister said I will hate my room but the funny thing is she has never cruised either.. I Thank Anyone and Everyone for Your In-Put on my situation..
Thank You

IMO if it is just the 2 of you there would be more than enough room in an 11. Of course, my family just stayed in a cat 8 porthole & the view was incredible. There was enough room for 4 of us in that room. PM me with your email if you would like to see a picture of the room with my kids sitting in it to get an idea of the amount of space you have. We didn't spend alot of time in the room. We will probably be booking at least a 10 next time though, since this time we got upgraded to an 8 from an 11. The bargain hunter I am would probably go for the 11 in your case to be honest. If you want to see outside, there are plenty of places to go on the ship. :)

Thank You for your valuable input, I so do Thank You..I would Love to P.Message you but I don't know how??

I'd say to take the inside cabin. In my opinion, you use your room much less on the cruise, since there are many other quiet places to relax on the ship. At the parks, if you are looking for quiet time, it really needs to be in your room, and the value resorts just don't provide much quiet space.

For the 2 of you, I don't think the split bath would be worth the extra money, so I'd book the cat 11. For a family, sometimes the split bath is worth it. The physical room size difference is very small.

Best of luck!

Since you are doing only a 4 day cruise forgo the verandah 'cause you will hardly spend any time there but to change and sleep!

Check out Barb's site where she has info regarding the all the secret places that you can enjoy a view! www.castawayclub.com

You will much appreciate a moderate/deluxe resort especially if you want to relax!

Enjoy your cruise! And if you happen to rebook a 7 day, then go for the verandah!

I would have to agree with the other posters, skip the verandah and take the inside room, we have cruised 5 times and have never spent the extra $$$ for it as we spend very little time in our room besides, there is a secret verandah on deck 7 in the back of the ship that not many people know about (they will now) that is very seldom used....I've gone there on every cruise and there is either a couple of people or none at all.....hope this helps.....Andy

I think you should go with an inside cabin and use the money for a moderate or deluxe resort while you're at WDW, especially since you'll only be on the ship for 4 night, but at the resort for 7. I honestly don't think you'll "hate your room" like your sister said.

My DH and I went on a cruise this past summer (Royal Caribbean to Bermuda) and we were in an inside cabin. Before the cruise I was worried that I'd feel claustrophobic with no window or balcony, but since it was just the 2 of us, it really was fine. We have a verandah cabin booked for our Disney cruise next summer but that's because we'll have our 2 DSs with us and we wanted to make this cruise extra special, plus have that little bit of extra space.

Have a great trip!! :sunny:

I agree, a Cat. 11 would be fine for your first 4 day cruise. Since you have never been on the ship before, I am sure you will not be spending much time at all in your room. There is just so much to do and so many beautiful places on the ship to enjoy (DH and I love the lounge chairs on deck 4).

The 4 days will go by so fast! You will probably only use your room to sleep and change clothes. Other than that, you will be out and about enjoy the beauty of the Disney Wonder!

Another vote for the inside room. Even disney's cheapest categories are gorgeous rooms! The only thing you are missing is the window. On some older cruise ships, the lower category rooms are really really really tiny and just not as nice as the more expensive rooms, so I can see how your sister might have that perception. A cat 11 room is only slightly smaller than the other categories and for 2 people it is very comfortable for a 4 day cruise. I personally think an outside room is a waste of money, because I am not bothered by being in a room without a window and being able to see the ocean but not hear it or smell it or feel the mist doesn't do anything for my cruise experience. I know some people love these rooms and we booked one for our first cruise as a compromise and I wouldn't spend the extra money on it again. A verandah is wonderful (we have had one of those too!) but not as necessary on a 4 day cruise where you will be much more likely to be trying to get ship activities in. We have a cat 11 booked for our 4 day wonder cruise, also on deck 6, and we really feel that this was the best value for our money for the shorter cruise.

Definitely take the inside room for the shorter cruise with that much of a price difference. If you were doing the opposite (a 7 day cruise with less days in the parks), i would say go for the verandah, but since it is your first cruise, you will be enjoying other parts of the ship and probably wont spend a heck of a lot of time in the cabin...

If money were no object, i would say take the verandah for sure, but i think you are better off doing it this way.

HAVE FUN!

In my opinion, I would do an inside stateroom and stay in a moderate or deluxe on WDW property. Especially since this is a 4-day cruise, you'll be packing a lot in onboard in that shorter amount of time and wouldn't have as much time to enjoy the verandah. Now, IF it were a 7-day cruise, I'd stay stick with the verandah, but it's only 4 nights. We did a 7-day first cruise in a verandah and used it all the time. THEN, we did a 4-day this past January in a verandah and overall felt it was a waste of money. We didn't have the time to spend there like we did the first time around.

And personally, I would never want to go to WDW and stay off property.

What about a CAT 9 or 8 onboard and stay at a value resort?

I'm surprised that so many people don't mind inside cabins, and many peope prefer them. However, DH and I had one on a 3 night cruise, and I spent every possible minute out of the room, enjoying the views of the ocean from the public areas, and some quiet corners that I could find. However, I would never ever again take an inside cabin, I like enjoying the views in the privacy of my own room even more. I like kicking off my shoes in my room once in awhile. I didn't realize that I do spend time in my room, and I want my room to have a window at least! It is extrememly dark in an inside cabin, not for me.

I think the inside room would be fine, especially for two people. One thing you also might want to check out, however, is if you could pay for an upgrade at the port when you check in. We booked a standard outside stateroom in advance, but upgraded to a verandah room for just $298 at check in. That was about 40 percent less than the difference we would have paid if we had booked the verandah room in advance.
