all you Dis'ers can you please let me know if these places are okay for a 12 year old that will not eat veggies or fruit or any sauces just plain meat and potatoes. We leave in 10 days and I am starting to freak out on my choices, whaich are as follows: le cellier-dinner, crystal palace-dinner, chef mickeys-breakfaast, 1900 park fare-dinner, whicpering canyon-lunch,cindarellas-dinner, le alfredo-dinner, concourse-dinner, planet hollywood-dinner ,sci fi-lunch,
Also are there any that meals can be shared due to huge portions, it is myself and my 12 yr old twins :love1: but none really big eaters.
 :Pinkbounc :cheer2: soo excited first trip at xmas time  :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

You really don't have to fret. Check out the menus at http://www.allearsnet.com/din/dining.htm and you should be able to put your mind at rest.

If nothing else, you can always order for him off of the kids menu. An example is your dinner at LeCellier:

The children's menu is:
Cheeseburger - $4.99
Hot Dog - $4.99
Chicken Tenders - $4.99
6 ounce Steak - $8.99
Grilled Chicken $6.99

I'm sure any of the items can be made sans veggies/fruit/sauces, upon request. You'll have a great time!

Most WDW restaurants will "meat and potatoes" things for you--preparing steak w/o any sauces, etc, or substituting FF for garlic/cheese potatoes--that sort of thing.

To me your choices look good...you have a lot of Buffets(CP,Cindy,PH CM,1900), so you will not be able to share there. You should beable to share at LE Cellier, Concourse and sci fi. WC will really depend on wat you order and how hungry you are(eg, you can not split the skillet), but you could split a sandwich. Good luck. I would follow what another poster told you ...check the menus...or if you get stuck, just ask for food to be made with out the horrible ingredents :cool1:

thanks all for putting my mind at rest, I wasn't sure how strict Disney was about substitutions. I picked buffets for the usual saftey of just meat and potatos and know that we cant share here. Thank you all again :grouphug:

We took some wicked fussy kids and adults to Hollywood & Vine at MGM and we actually made everyone happy.......including my vegetarian son in law......good luck and have fun

A few of the places we did eat at were CP for dinner, 1900 Park Fare for breakfast and dinner, and Sci Fi. We're also VERY picky eaters. I think most of the breakfast places sounded safe. 1900 park fare was great. We really enjoyed it. Food and interaction were wonderful. The dinner was not as meat/potatoes - yet were were still able to leave full. My son and I are picky, but my boyfriend is even pickier. There were a number of things he would NOT even try. I usually don't EVER try new things, but I did here, and found everyting to be quite good. Sci Fi was fun. Food was pretty good, waiter was not the best. I, myself, enjoyed the character meals more. Once was enough for Sci Fi. Glad we tryed it though. If you have more questions regarding anything, I'll try to help!!

I think you're choices are pretty good, I agree with The Plaza and would also suggest the Grand Floridian Cafe and Olivia's. Two little known gems with good basic, but well prepared food.

Best Food At WDW If You Are As Insane As My Son:
McDonald's French Fry Kiosks
McDonald's restaurant over by the All-Stars
Hollywood & Vine
Cheeseburgers at the Food & Fun Center in Contemporary Resort
Cheeseburger & Fries at Beaches & Cream
Cosmic Ray's Cheeseburgers
Breakfast Buffets

OK At WDW If You...:
Earl of Sandwich
Cheeseburgers from room service
Hoop-Dee-Doo
Whispering Canyon

Foods My Son Wanted to Call Social Services Over:
San Angel Inn (did not eat)
Alfredo's (took 2 bites)
Marrakesh (wouldn't even order)

I refuse to cater to a 12 year old who won't eat, so we go where we're going, and he eats or he doesn't. You should have seen the look on his face when they put the refried beans down in front of him! Wish I had a picture of that!

:flower:

I think your 12 year old and my 38 yoa DB are the same. I had actually talked him into trying 'Ohana's and they changed the menu! No way...but since he eats seafood we are able to go to Fulton's. Also he likes the teppanyaki in Japan...Mom and I get ALL the veggies!

PS....many times DM and I split an entree...that way we can have dessert...the entrees are HUGE!

If I did this my son would die of starvation. he makes himself physically ill if there is something on his plate that he doesn't like( well doesn't know if he likes b/c he won't try but whatever) he has been this way since birth, won't even try sweets if they have fruit flavour. Any shrinks out there that can help with this? Ha ha

How was CP for dinner? I made an ADR there, but my boyfriend is a REALLY picky eater, and even though I looked at their menu online, most of the items seemed a little "out there" for his tastes (he's definitely a meat and potatoes only type of guy  )

I hope you book the Yatchman Steakhouse for your BF...he will love you forever!!! :cloud9:

Just wanted to let the o.p. know that most all restaurants in WDW are very accomodating. My children ordered plain grilled chicken breasts with fries or mashed potatoes at R&C, Le Cellier, RFC to name a few and all were happy to comply. My DS likes plain, grilled meats and will eat with ketchup. We did Teppanyaki and I just took in ketchup packets. We plan to try Marrakesh and I am not worried about it.

If the side dishes on the menu don't sound appealing to you, you probably won't be any more thrilled when you get there. The things that sounded gross to us on the menu we never ended up touchin when we were there. If you're willing to try things here and there you might find some new things you like. If you won't do that, either plan on filling up on the carved meats and a few choice sides.. or like another post said, plan a steakhouse. Yachtsman or Concourse sounded great. You could take the monorail or bus to the Contemporary for Concourse EASILY. If you don't want to leave the park or want a character meal, CP was good to us. Beautiful and fun. If you look for a buffet where you like everything you'll be looking for a while. We stressed about the choices too. Now I wish we hadn't have. Not worth it. Everywhere you plan, just make sure there's a few things you would like , sit back and relax. At CP there's chicken fingers and good mac and cheese if all else fails!!

Thanks for the feedback. Everything on the menu sounded good to me, so I'll just make him go- he'll find *something* :teeth:
And besides, I've already made ADRs for Yachtsman AND Concourse, so I doubt he'll starve :rotfl:

:rotfl:reminded me of my db...& just to give some of you hope by brother ate nothing but hot dogs, chipped ham sandwiches or steak drowned in catsup and worcestershire( know i didn't spell that right) most of his life till a teen and ended up being a chef...so there is hope for anyone :rotfl:

we had no problems asking for sauceless/ special order type things except a few places where salads were premade
