Our January trip will be the first for our DGD, 5. We arrive on a Friday afternoon. Originally it was just going to be DH and I, with DS and DGD arriving the next day, so we made an ADR for 2 people for dinner at BOG. We've tried to change it to 4 people but no luck so far. I was already thinking about saving MK for Monday or even Tuesday, thinking it might be overwhelming for DGD to start with MK and a let down with the other parks. So now I'm thinking we should cancel BOG and just go to AK that afternoon/ evening, but I'm having a tough time doing it! We love Flame Tree BBQ and have ADR at BOG later in the week, so no one will be distraught at missing BOG that night.

What are your thoughts?

We typically hold off on MK until Sunday for 2 reasons. It's usually packed on Saturdays and it is overwhelming. My girls will be 4 and 5 this Dec when we go and we will be at AK on Saturday and MK on Sunday. :) This is their 3rd trip but we have always toured this way with great luck. Happy travels!

just back last night DONT do weekend save for monday or weekday its crazy BOG line 1 to 2 hour wait for lunch and people waited!!!! for a burger??

If anyday other than Saturday I would say MK a must but that changes the scenario. Still a tough call. If there is acharacter at another park they really like you could do that first.

I like to save MK for last when they're little. Otherwise, they expect the same level of fun and magic in the other parks, which aim a little older. There's plenty of fun to be had in any of the other three, even if she doesn't fully appreciate Epcot, for example.

It depends on when in January you are going. As long as it is not the week following NYE or MLK week-end, I would do MK your first full day. We almost always arrive on Saturday, mid-afternoon, and do Epcot for a few hours. Our first full day is always MK. It's just the way to start the magic for us. My boys love all the parks and it's never been a let down to go to them after the MK. Our youngest is 7 but we did a trip the year he was 5 too.
