Opinions on using an ADR for desert only?

On July 4th, we have a Fantasmic (early) dinner ADR at Brown Derby and a later dinner ADR at 50's prime time. Normally I'd cancel one, but my DW's sister is joining us. She's never really done Disney right, so we'd really like her to see both.

Opinions? Should we cancel one, or is it okay to just go to 50's for "desert"?

Feel free to go for anything you like! I'd flinch a little if two people ordered water and watched another in their party eat a salad at a very difficult to get restaurant, but there's no policy against even that, and you're planing dessert at a not-in-high-demand place. Dining is one of my favorite things about a disney vacation - enjoy!

We did this once in the afternoon at 50'sPT. We were celebrating our DS's 18th birthday and hs graduation. Our server--Cousin Elizabeth--even brought out a special birthday cupcake for DS and "sang" (although to say it was a song is really stretching it!!) Happy Birthday. We had a great time. I think it's a great way to experience the place.

I see no problem with keeping them. It's not like you are keeping it just to cancel it it not using it. Enjoy the dessert

I see no problem with this at all, you're reserving a table not a specific duration of time and/or dollar value of meal. I'm sure the reservation system assumes an ADR is x number of minutes based on averages and you'll be on the low side of that average, but big deal. It just means they'll be able to accommodate a walk up earlier or better yet, help alleviate the over booking they tend to do at many of their dining locations.

Disney does not have a problem with it, therefore neither do I.

You may find some other posters who disagree and think you shouldn't book unless you plan to order a full meal based on their own ideas of what an ADR should be used for, but there's no rule against booking for dessert so have at it.
