We are looking at buying a Solara convertible. Anybody have one that would like to share a review? The good, bad, and the ugly.

TIA

Hi SC Minnie! I have a 2007 Toyota Solara.

This one:

with a tan top.

We LOVE it! We live in Louisiana. Last summer we couldn't find the exact car I wanted so I got on the computer and found just the one I wanted. By a wonderful stoke of luck, it was in Orlando. So, on DD's 15th birthday, we drove down and got it. While we were there anyway, we spent a week with Mickey.

The car drives like a dream. It has a smooth, luxury car ride. The sound system is great, it even meets a teenager's music standards. I enjoy the Ipod hookup. The truck holds much more than I expected. My other car is a GMC high top conversion van so I am used to carrying most anything I want with me. When we picked the car up in Florida I wasn't thinking about a lack of space and packed for a week as usual. Well, it all fit as well as all the new school clothes we picked up for DD while we shopped our way back to Louisiana through Foley, Alabama and Orlando outlets. By the time we got home the truck was full but it all fit.

If I had to pick a weak point it would be the small rear window. Of course, this is no problem if the top is down, but your vision is limited if it is up.

Another selling point for us is the room inside. DH is a big guy. He was pleased that he can put the driver's seat in a comfortable position for him and DD or I can still sit comfortably behind him with enough leg room.

I highly recommend the Solara. I always wanted a convertible and this one is very nice.

What color are you thinking of getting? I absolutely love the black with tan top but it takes a lot of washing to keep it looking it's best.

Thanks lucyanna girl!

I am not that particular about color except no white and no black (too hard to keep clean).

I have always wanted a convertible too and this one is in our price range and has the room. It also had very good reviews in Consumer Reports (but I have been burned by their reviews more than once  ).

I have test driven one yet- DH went out Monday while I picked DD up from dance and drove one. I think we are going out this weekend to shop around. We have about 10 Toyota dealers in a 60mi radius so I think I will be able to find something here. I have a list of things that are a must. and a list of 'would be ok accessories'. We are looking at the SLE model.
