Hi all...

Planning first holiday to Florida, from the UK...going April-May in 2004.

Just looking for viewpoints/opinions on the Sheraton Safari hottel in Lake Buena Vista, please.

We had 4 rooms at the Sheraton Safari for one night before checking into a Disney resort a couple years ago. We got it for $30 thru Priceline. We really liked this place. Everyone was very helpful & friendly. Rooms were good size and clean. It's in a great location very close to the main entrance to DTD hotel area. The pool is great with a hot tub and large slide. We were very pleased with the restaurants, we ate in their main dining room for dinner and breakfast the next morning, they also had a snack bar/pizza type place we didn't use. Nice indoor/outdoor lounge area. We remarked that IF we ever did stay off property for our entire vacation, this would be a good place to stay. You can't go wrong with this joint.

Thanx for your reply, Bob...it's nice to hear good things about the Safari...it certainly looks nice in the brochure and on their website...for our first Florida holiday (and the first big holiday without any parents involved...(it's taken me 20-odd years to finally get to Florida...I'm 27 now!) we didn't want to go too expensive, although I'd definitely consider an official WDW hotel sometime in the future.

We have stayed on site at the Polynesian and Port Orleans - both French Quarter and Riverside and the All Stars. Also stayed offsite at various Hotels. We love the Safari. The location is great - right at the gates by downtown Disney. It is also nice to be so close to on-site but offsite to take advantage of the grocery store and various cheap places to eat - Steak N Shake.... etc next door.
We are staying there again this year - my daughter loves the snake slide in the pool.

We are also staying at the Sheraton Safari in October and I am pleased that I have heard so many great things about this hotel.

I am hoping to get a better rate but for now I have booked at $79.00 per night.

I think that closer to the date I can get it for cheaper, however I don't want to take a chance with Priceline for a lower rate.

:smooth:

I am curious to hear what has been your best rate without using Priceline?

Thanks!:bounce:

$79 is the cheapest rate I've received there. I think it's a good hotel. Keep in mind that many of the beds are double beds, if that's important to you.

Hi Alton from over here in the UK too:D

We stayed at the Sheraton Safari last October for 7 nights . . . and are going back this year.

It's a great location - right next to The Crossroads area where there are a number of restaurants, shops and a supermarket.

Right next to the Safari is a Sizzlers restaurant where you stuff yer face for brekkie before heading out to the parks.

The buffet breakfast in the Safari was good enough, but no where near as cheap as Sizzler - and there's a Shoney opposite. There are loads of restaurants around this area.

Do you have a car?

It's well placed for all the theme parks and the staff were very friendly, the pool great (we had a pool view room). Lots of convention type people staying when we went, and they had a BBQ with disco by the pool the night we did some laundry - great to sit and sing along to;)

Let me know if there's anything else you need.

I paid 49.00 per night last year - special through DreamRes - during the week and 89 on the weekend.
Got a rate of 68.00 this year - seniors discount - my mother is coming with us.
