We will be making reservations within a couple weeks and I was wondering if this is any good. I haven't seen much about it. Thanks!

I was somewhat less than thrilled with it. The clam chowder was awesome and the mussels were very nice, but the buffet kind of went downhill from there. The clams were tiny and gritty, the salad bar was sparse, and some food professional who should have known better had reduced the mashed potatoes to an inedible paste in a food processor. If you're a chowder fan, though, it's worth going just to try the chowder. It's that good.

Thanks! The reason I'm considering it is because the menu doesn't have many unusual things. My husband is EXTREMLY picky. But, I do want to enjoy the places we go. I'm not sure if I like clam chowder. I've never had it.

I have to respectfully disagree with Caren, we love Cape May, and are going back soon. I can even say this as a non-steamed-clam person. The "regular" side of the buffet when we were there was wonderful (ribs were oh so yummy). The desserts were great. My husband said this was the only night he had a belly ache - and that's saying something, because he ate a LOT everywhere :lmao:

We also enjoy the Cape May Clam Bake and make it a MUST on every trip. I really like the wide variety of both seafood and non-seafood dishes. There is something for everyone at this buffet.

We've been to Cape May Clam Bake twice. Both times, it was "okay" for everything except the seafood and shellfish, which were pretty disappointing. Consider it on-par with the most average of Disney's buffet dinners (which is still adequate, but not shockingly great), with the added bonus of a little, marginal-quality seafood thrown in.

I agree with "Caren" - we were there last week. The food was so-so. Clam chowder was very good but things were kinda downhill as far as great seafood - the line for the clams, mussels & Shrimp was long & kinda in the way of the salad side. The rest of the food was nothing special, but the dessert buffet was good. Really liked the oreo bon-bons. We were on dining plan & glad we didn't pay out of pocket. :)

Love it! Its a must do each trip before watching Illuminations. Make sure to get an Oreo Bon bon or two from the dessert area.

Last trip our family enjoyed Cape May so much we scheduled a second visit during our 10 day stay. However, we stopped going for about 4 years because it had slipped in quality from the years before. I think they are back on track now. The desserts are great! I'm not much of a meat eater or a big clam/mussel person and I found more than enough.

If you like clams and mussels I say go. Otherwise, save your money and go somewhere else. I love seafood so I had a great time. My dining companions who don't eat seafood said the rest was OK. All I ate was clams and mussels, and a lot of them at that, so I think I ate mine and their moneys worth! lol

We went in Oct. and was one of our favs. Will be going back again in Aug.

We were there for our 4th time last week. The first 3 times were wonderful. We were, however, disappointed in last week's visit. Both service and the food were not up to what we experienced in the past. We'll skip it next visit, but will probably give it another try in a couple of years.
