I haven't eaten here in a LONG time - so long, I barely remember it. There are plenty of this style restaurant in my area. How does it compare to say a Bennihana? (I like Bennihana - but wouldn't go out of my way to eat there) Is it worth a trip? Any opinions are appreciated!

It's pretty good. I think the chefs take less time and are a little less showy than Bennihana or most other places. Not as much interaction with the guests. This is all in reference to the ONE time we ate there.
This was the most expensive meal for our family on the dining plan. Nice sushi sampler plates for appetizer. I had lobster, shrimp and scallops. DH had steak of some sort (maybe a filet) and either shrimp or lobster--I don't pay that much attention to what others eat :teeth: We were so full but did have a taste of dessert. We chose orange sherbert. Come to think of it, one of my kids was so full that he didn't want dessert. The server REALLY wanted him to order it. It was kind of funny watching an adult trying to force a kid to get ice cream.
If going to Bennihana's isn't a big deal for you, I'd skip it. But, for many others I think it is worth a try.

Compared to the Japanese steakhouse we have at home, I was very disappointed with Teppanyaki. The sushi was pretty good, but not the best I have had.

I agree with katedrew

we are skipping it this time...it was not good....

I have a review from a long time ago if you search....

not fun, long waits, kinda rude staff, restricted ordering....steak over cooked... not a lot for your $$ IMO....

DH and I went once and probably won't be back until DS specifically asks to go. It was okay, but nothing special and definitely not worth the price. There are MUCH better places to eat in WS. Our chef wasn't entertaining at all...he just cooked our food. Maybe if he had been more entertaining, my opinion would be different. :confused3

We went in December.
This was our family's first hibatchi experience. We really enjoyed being surrounded by the Japanese themeing. My kids especially went out of their way to try EVERYTHING...which sort of surprised me. My son liked the seaweed salad that was an included appy and my dd got a real kick out of the edamame. However, I felt our chef in particular wasn't much of a showman and we got stuck with a family that was headed by a mother that was determined to have everything "HER" way. We still enjoyed ourselves but have found a local hibatchi restuarant that has just opened that is just as enjoyable at a lower cost. If we decide to take advatange of the dining plan again, we plan to only repeat two locations: Le Celier and O'hanas.

(other rest. we visited on the DP that we plan to take a pass on next trip: Chef Mickey's, Boma's, and Cinderella's Royal Table.)

We enjoyed our food, but again the chef was not very showy. Nice, talked a little and just went about the cooking. Our last dinner there was definately the best we have had out of 4 experiences BUT only because we had the 2 nicest families to eat with. Being single if we have adr's they usually set you up with very young single people or very large groups and sis and I. This time we did a walk up and said we didn't mind children at all, and would seat anywhere. Finally got to eat with people our age. ;) And there kids. I believe this resturant's experience is helped and hindered by your tablemates. The other wait staff have always been very attentive to drinks, and service, and usually topnotch. :thumbsup2

This year with the nephew its on the list, and his 1st experince with a cooking table. How we get a good table, and group. :wizard:

We went once and it is doubtful we will be back. There are much better Japanese Steakhouses in any town in the US.

I agree with the above posts that suggest skipping it. There are some great places to eat at WDW, so why go someplace you are not crazy about?

Ate there for the first time last September. My two DD's (both adults) said it was the best lobster they have ever had. We have it booked again for August. Even though we have a Benihana nearby, and dine there frequently, we will still rate this one of our favorite restaurants in WDW. :)
