I have read the other non-Disney web-sites but I am curious as to everyone's opinion here. Are some parts of SSR better in terms of location, transportation etc. than other parts? We are looking into purchasing soon through Disney with the referral discount but have not done so yet. We will be going to WDW during the first two weeks in June and may split time between DVC resorts based upon availability. Would like to stay at either BCV or BWV so any comments on any of these three are appreciated.

I for one would choose SSR over BWV. I can't say about BCV, since I haven't stayed there yet.

I own at SSR, BCV and VWL and prefer SSR. BWV is my least favorite resort and BCV is okay (I bought so we can use the pool). We are staying at BCV in June ourselves so between those two I would pick BCV for the pool.

SSR is our least favorite resort. Although the rooms are very nice, it is too spread out and lacks the theming of some of our other favorite resorts such as VWL.

It depends what your vacationing style is. SSR is a spread out condo complex in the Marriott Vacation Club style. BCV/BWV/VWL is a hotel setting with condo units.

If you prefer to get away from it all when not park hopping, then SSR will be your thing. You can take a nice stroll along the lakes, hop the ferry to Downtown Disney, layabout by one of the pools (there are several) or just snooze in your room.

If you want to be in the middle of the buzz, then the hotel setting will give you more excitement than you could ever want.

As for better places to stay at SSR, generally the Springs and Congress Park areas are requested. The Springs is nearest the main pool and food court; Congress Park overlooks Downtown Disney and is a short walk away from Marketplace. But when it opens, I expect the Grandstand will also be requested (it'll have another themed pool, be close to the foot court and ferry to DTD). Supposedly the Carousel and Paddocks are poorer spots since they are on the road side of the resort, but they also are the first bus stops so maybe you get less crowding.

I've stayed in all the DVC's except BCV and BWV. (We're staying in BWV (so excited!) this June, and I don't have any desire to try BCV because it does not "fit" my personality or style of vacationing)

I can honestly say that each one of the resorts has advantages and disadvantages. I've enjoyed each one. Because of it's location and ameneties, SSR ends up being the best overall choice for our family and it's the one on-site resort we'll visit regularly. But - each family is going to have a different "best fit" in terms of what their home resort ought to be. You'll be able to find numerous families thrilled to own points at each of the home resorts.

The nice thing about DVC is there aren't any "bad" resorts. If you are flexible and can plan ahead, you'll be able to visit them all sooner or later.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. This is just what I was hoping for and knew I would receive from this great group! We have a family of six and need to decide what is important: near the pool, near activity, near transportation, etc. Will probably take the plunge and buy soon. My business sense is telling me definately, just waiting for my common sense to get there (and it is REAL close)!

Buy before the 20th to get the F&F discount of 15$ per point if you are planning to go through Disney and purchase SSR! You'll need a referral. Feel free to PM anyone, I'm sure we'd all be happy to help :goodvibes

SSR is our least favorite resort. Although the rooms are very nice, it is too spread out and lacks the theming of some of our other favorite resorts such as VWL.

I bought at SSR just for those reasons. After staying at highly-congested and overly-themed places like All-Star Movies, Grand Floridian, and Polynesian, I wanted something that was open and quaint

To me, the DVC resort options are like a menu of marvelous dishes! Each one is tasty; each one is unique in its own way. At times, I'll be in the mood for one "flavor"; at other times, a different one.
Bottom line...........DVC offers a wonderful choice and each one has its special appeal.:goodvibes

I have personally stayed at all of the onsite DVC resorts (and all but GF and the Carribean Beach also). I would have to say that SSR is definitely mine (and my entire familes!) favorite! We love the layout...the buses were great...the main house area is fantastic. The pool was one of the best and the staff was superb. Having downtown Disney right across the way was the icing on the cake for us. We love to go down there for dinner and then to shop.

Personally, we all thought the walk at Pop Century was waay longer than SSR! I guess everyone will have their favs. I just know from many many trips to Disney that there is massive walking everywhere while there. Its just one of those things that we've come to expect while vacationing at WDW. I personally look more for the room layout/size..the resort location..the bus service..the restaurants...and the staff when I pick my favorites. I must say we have had no complaints at SSR and we cannot wait to return!

have a great trip!

We just stayed in the Padocks a couple of days ago and we LOVED it. We had a water view with the fountain. Second bus stop. We were just over the bridge which was really a short walk. We are young so the walk didn't bother us at all. 5 minutes, maybe. We just bought in at SSR. Actually we closed while we were there. It was very nice.

I love SSR. The apartments are elegant. I just wish that SSR offered
room service. I had a really bad cold in November and my parents had
to drive to the carriage house to get my dinner because I didn't feel
like eating out. It seemed like forever and I was hungry.
