Opinions on Small World

What do you think about Small World closing for renovations? Just this past Feb 2004, DH and I were just talking about how they need to refurb the attraction. Just update it and all. Even clean the ceiling. Although, I realize it is about 1/2 and 1/2 when it comes to the love hate percentage of the ride. We still love the weaving thru the different "rooms" of the world singing along with our DD 9 yo.

Is there anyone else out there on the DIS network that is just as excited for the refurb yet, said to see the ride closed for the next year? I don't like that I won't get to hum along for the next year everytime we go.

I like IASW. It brings back good memories of trips to MK when I was a kid. People like to complain about this ride, but I think if it ever closed those same people would be crying the most over it. Just like If You Had Wings/Dreamflight. Everyone complained about that ride, then it closed and suddenly became a favorite. I hope they clean it up, maybe add some fresh coats of paint, but that's it. I don't want this ride to ever change!

I am glad about the refurbishment but sad about the ride being closed when we go in Dec!

We will have a niece with us that has never been before, and considering the hard time it was getting SIL to even go to WDW, the niece may not get a chance to return when IASW is open. The members of my direct family, of course, will be able to see it when it is fresh and new after the refurbishment!

I think IASW is just about as well-known an attraction as you can get!

DH and I like this ride but our DD LOVES it. We were in DL in December and rode 6x in 2 days. We were thinking about a WDW trip this fall but I think we'll hold off until next year. DD would be heart broken if we went when it wasn't open.

I don't think I'll lose any sleep over it, because it's definately not one of my favorites. I understand the message behind it, but it's presentation is a just a little too creepy for me. Flashbacks from the Puppetmaster movie....

It's a ride of torture for our family, but I agree its a classic and should be kept =)

I'm glad it's getting some work... it needs it. We're only going to miss it this time around because my DH has yet to endure it, and we were looking forward to dragging him on it. Oh well, next time I suppose! =)

We are also glad it's getting refurbished, but sad that we won't be able to ride this time. Although it is a little sappy, it just wouldn't be MK without Small World.

I'm glad it is getting refurbished. Everytime I have ridden on the past few trips something is not working - like alot of the ceiling attractions. It definetly needs to be spruced up. I won't mind now riding it for a trip - however 3 1/2 yo DD will be very sad!!! That is one of her FAVS!

The alternative to this is, of course, that well known problem ie. the roof falling on your heads.

The ride also needs to close, as many of you already know, to flush out Chuckie. The little scamp is STILL in there and despite my bringing this to the attention of the public ever so many times he still remains at large and continues to kidnap Small World haters and force them to ride it over and over again - that little doll is quite adept at finding new ways to torture people...

We're glad it is going to be refurbished. Most in my family enjoy this ride. (However, my macho DS9 cannot get into riding just to look at a bunch of "dolls".) We like to sing along and identify the different continents and countries.

I, too, love IASW! I'm bummed that we'll have to miss it on our upcoming trip, but am glad that they are working on it.. it needed it! We'll just have to make sure we go back again soon in order to see it Sparkle! heeehee!
