Looking through all the reviews is making my head swim! Anyone have suggestions? I'm looking at 2 BRs--right now I'm leaning towards High Point World Resort. The other choices I have are: Villas at Fortune Place, Westgate Leisure Resort, Florida Vacation Villas, GEVC at Fantasy World Club Villas, Oak Plantation a Sunvest Resort, Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Orange Lake Resort, & Lago Vista at Buenaventura Lakes. Thanks!

Quick question> What is it about High Point World Resort that appeals to you?
What's most important to you?
Closest to Disney?
Fantastic pool(s)?
Lots of space, in your timeshare?
Restaurants close by?

We check in on May 1st @ Silverlake Resort, we LOVE it> stayed here 5 yrs ago. SO close to Disney's Animal Kingdom, fantastic pools, restaurants close by, spacious!
Also, we were able to snag OKW, a DVC Resort! We're REALLY looking forward to our 2 week vacation :D

from the reviews I read (on RCI site) it had good reviews & I kinda' liked the townhome aspect. A few of the resorts said there were no elevators & since it's going to be 2 women & 3 kids (2, 4, & 4) I wasn't sure we wanted to be dragging luggage & kids up stairs!

closeness to Disney, 2BR, & a pool are the most important things.

I don't remember Silverlake being available--I'll go back & look, thanks!

nope, silverlake is not available our dates

We've stayed @ Orange Lake ages ago, & hated it. The 2BR accomodations were nice, & huge, which was in it's favor & now it has a water park which wasn't there when we stayed. The resort was way down 192, which in the morning traffic would be horrible, & @ night, say after the fireworks, it took forever to get back> it seemed like everyone was staying off 192. Felt like the place was one HUGE golf course, we wanted to cut across the green to get the pool> forget it, you'll get yelled at :D

www.tripadvisor.com you can read unbiased reviews from others, which has been helpful. One of the first things we do upon entering our place, is unplug the phones, I can't stand phone calls selling timeshares while we're on vacation> already have two weeks. Also, if you decide to sleep in one morning the last thing you want to be is awakened early asking if you'd like to attend a "free" breakfast, blah, blah, blah..........
Anyone that wants to get us has our cell numbers :0

Wow, I just noticed we'll be down about the same time!! This must have been a spur-of-the-moment trip, for ya~ whatever you chose you'll have a GREAT time! You can always request a 1st floor room if the place you choose doesn't have an elevator. We always request a 1st floor anyway, we just prefer it :)

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

I really haven't heard of those RCI properties and we go every year. I do know Orange Lake looks nice from the road and is pretty far away. We have stayed even further down at SummerBay Resort and it wasn't too bad of a commute to Disney.

Any other choices? Except for Orange Lake are any of them silver/gold crown resorts? That's what I would look for!

Has anyone stayed at the Fountains? How close is it to Disney? If we shift our date by one day, we can book there...

Fountains is "on my list". I've never stayed there, but would love to. Not super close, but a lovely resort by all accounts.

We are in the same boat as you. I have points my sis asked me to book, since I'm the Disney expert:rotfl:. She is an owner at Summerbay, but there is no availability for a 2 bedroom during our weekend, and I have no clue when it comes to RCI. The only resort from your list that is also on our list is the Holiday Inn Club. which we will probably choose. It looks like a good place to stay, except that it is huge, but we will have a car. How long are you staying? We are only going for 3 nights over the labor day weekend. How bad can it be? I called them today to ask a few questions. Their direct line is 877-807-9060, if you need. The 2 bedrooms have 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom, plus 2 bathrooms, which we wanted. I was advised to stay in the River Village, but our choices are East or west, so the agent recommended East. BTW, I called RCI today twice and both agents recommended Holiday Inn Club - so what do you make of that? Give me your dates and I'll plug them in to see what comes up, that is if you really want another opinion from someone that doesn't really know RCI that well. We do have the option of Silver lake, but it's more points (8000 more) and I don't really understand the value of what a point is worth so I don't know if it is better or not, but my Sis has over 300,000 points so we certainly could go for it. I did find that by plugging in a full week, we got different properties to choose from, but again for higher points too. I was trying to get Bonnet Creek - even though, for us this will be a Universal Studios weeken not Disney :scared1:! Will be curious to see what you pick! :yay:

I think I read through your thread earlier too. We have weeks, not points, so they're all the same. I just released high point & have Wyndham Cypress Palms on hold right now. Orange Lake West was up last night & I prob should have taken it, but now it's gone. I did call & pretend to be my mom & was told bonnet creek & silverlake did not have openings during our time. I've noticed a lot of activity today. Things are on there & then a few minutes later they are gone. I'm going to keep watching today.

do it!

otherwise might consider Oaks

my problems with Orange Lake was before 417 (which you can take - it will cost you a $1) - that say still prefer the back roads.

we were in Western - no pools close enough to walk too - and no will not walk a half mile to a pool. (serious)

the other problem was getting out it. waited at that stupid light (on US 192) for 10 minutes and since it 6:30 am - no traffic.....

needed to be at FW kennels at 7 am for my much missed Spicey.

Wow, lucky you. My Sis bought her time share @ Summerbay in Orlando, so those properties are restricted - any property within 30 miles of Orlando can't exchange with WDW, how cruel is that? I got so excited when I thought we could use her points at Disney, but then realized it was prohibited. Almost makes me want to buy a timeshare elsewhere!!! Hope you have a great vacation.

OK, I just booked our trip at the Holiday Inn Club. I was gonna book on line, but then called RCI for the third time today :rotfl:, and guess which resort the agent recommended: Holiday Inn Club. What's up with that, all 3 agents recommended it. Anyhow, it's now booked for our dates. BTW, I looked at the Fountains and it had great reviews. Wish we were going for a week, instead of just a weekend. I'm now thinking about arriving a day early just to spend a day at Disney,:rolleyes1. even if it's by myself. If you have any lee-way with your dates, like arrive 1 day early or later, your resort properties could change. I think Cypress Palms looks good too! Good luck, it does make a person's head swim with all these decisions!

a week for a 3 BR in the north village came open, so I went for it! I was debating b/w it & the 2BR in the west, but figured we'd prob have to drive to the pools anyway so I went for more room! I know they charge for the inner tubes, prob will take some for the kids. I wonder what else they charge for...

that stinks! I can't believe they tell you where you can & can't stay!

Yeah believe me... We booked it ... Disney.. And we paid... Guess what we own at silverlake ... So 4 days later... She called and told us the same thing... It was for our 20th wedding anniversary..
