I want to find a good recipe for beignets, I almost bought the cookbook from the JK, I might order it anyway...LOL Loved the beignets!!!!

They had a beignet mix kit for sale in Jazz Kitchen for $9. I was sooooo tempted! One of the friends I was with said she'd gotten one and they turned out just like the ones you buy there. Unfortunately, I did not have much extra $$$ so I passed on it, but NEXT time....!

I buy the same box they sell at RB for $9 for $3-4 at Cost Plus World Market. Cafe Du Monde. We make them often and they are so easy to make! Just add water, mix, roll out (use flour so it won't stick), cut (I use a pizza cutter), fry and dust with powdered sugar (or put in paper back with p. sugar) So Good. So Simple. I usually end up making way too many. The box makes a lot of servings. It says it makes 48 but I must cut mine alot smaller. I must get 100 or more. I keep the box in the fridge to keep in fresh.

As far as eating at JK goes, we ate there years back for a special occasion and I just remember it as being expensive. I think it's changed some since. Now when we want Cajun we eat at the Jazz Kitchen Express. Gumbo Ya-Ya, french bread, and beignets.

Ok!!!! I bought these yesterday at Cost Plus. They were $3.49 with no tax, so I got 2 boxes for $6.98--$2 less than 1 box at DTD!! Thanks so much for the tip!! I will be trying them out this weekend

You're welcome. I was surprised the first time I saw them at Cost Plus for so much less than RB. I mean I know that things are more expensive at the parks, but almost triple!

Anyway glad you found them. Besides powdered sugar I like them with cinnamon and p.sugar too. Enjoy!
