Well, I just recalculated our vacation for this year using the 2010 point chart and it ended up saving us 4 points. Since we try and plan our vacation to accomodate the 5-day weekend the kids' schools always have in October, the fact that weekend nights use fewer points is a definite plus for us.

Works the same for us. We always have a Fri and Sat night included in our trips and only the number of weekdays varies. For our "standard" 3 trips per year, we will be saving 12 points. That's another night for us in a studio or another night every other year in a one bedroom.
 
It doesn't really matter to me. We always look at stays in terms of weeks, and a couple points difference here or there doesn't matter. It might cut a night out of our AKV stays, but since my stay here this trip, I'm not so sure that's a bad thing either.

I am right there with you. What the heck did we miss???:confused3 I am guessing they lowered weekend rates and increased weekday but it all comes out in the wash if you stay a week but it more points if you stay less than a week.
 
Borrow them from 2011 or get a transfer of 25 points from another member.

I was already planning on borrowing ALL of my 2011 points. I would have needed to bank 25 points from 2009 to take the trip. I can't do that now since I used 95 points to make a reservation for June 2009. I already have non-refundable airfare purchased so I would be out $$$ either way. Had they informed me of this change before I was able to book with my 2009 points, I could have planned accordingly.

Although I would not be "happy", I could tolerate this change a lot better if they decided not to implement it until 2011.
 

I don't really fit any of the categories as written. The proposed changes don't really affect us a whole lot other than possibly when we arrive and leave for a visit.

If the proposed points were in affect for 2009, our upcoming trip around July 4th would cost us exactly 2 (two) more points. However, our stay this past New Years would have been 14 points less, so I would be overall better off.

When we purchased DVC we looked at our typical travel routine and then looked at the weekly points for our normal travel dates and room needs, and purchased accordingly, so as long as the weekly points didn't change much, it doesn't have much of an impact.
 
I've looked on member page not seeing what this is all about? Can those of us that are uninformned get a link posted? TIApirate:
 
As I stated in another thread, I know they can do this based on the POS but I am really tired of the feeling they are listening to the complaints of a few members and not taking into consideration the wants of the majority.

I feel these major changes need to be presented to "all" the membership before they start making them and saying it was due to member requests.

I will gladly share my opinion on any survey they are willing to put on the Member Site.

I don't think they have the backbone to do it. Put it out there for "all" to voice an opinion on and show the results.

I think they are doing what works best for them, and less about us.
i voted unhappy, yet moreso disallusioned (maybe delusional lol)

It was all i needed to hear to convince me to book the platinum pkg (on sale;) ) for a few days this summer to save some points for next years travel

thinking i'll start sharing some of my vacation dollars w/WDTCo via split trips on a more regular basis (anybody want to join me in a refrain of "some day my pin-code will come":upsidedow )

find it interesting that this whole subject wasn't brought up during the annual meeting:confused3 , would've been a perfect time to open it to discussion...if they wanted to engage us.

obviously, our opins don't matter or they would've asked:rolleyes2 , they hold all the mickey bars...we don't have to leave, but we can't stay there if we're unhappy:bitelip: (happiest place on earth & all:snooty: )

Then you'll need to find a member willing to transfer 25(or more) points to your account. I understand Disney did a lousy job of planning and timing change and announcement. They've done a lot of that lately. I'm just trying to point out to you that the sky is not really falling. You CAN still do the trip that you planned, just need to be a bit more creative in how to get the points.
