As I stated in another thread, I know they can do this based on the POS but I am really tired of the feeling they are listening to the complaints of a few members and not taking into consideration the wants of the majority.

I feel these major changes need to be presented to "all" the membership before they start making them and saying it was due to member requests.

I will gladly share my opinion on any survey they are willing to put on the Member Site.

I don't think they have the backbone to do it. Put it out there for "all" to voice an opinion on and show the results.

I think they are doing what works best for them, and less about us.

These changes have wiped out one Sunday thru Friday stay for us. Addonitis is cured! Not a twinge left.

Needs option for "Happy with this proposed change." I don't meet the other two "happy" options and I'm certainly not unhappy.

I guess I am not very good at figuring out which area to post this under. I figured it would include discussion about the situation.

Sorry about that moderators.

And that is the way I am about everything in life!! Just did a 50 point add-on last week! I'm happy!!:cool1:

:goodvibes I am happy because we have always done a mix of weekends and weekdays, and for the most part, we come out the same. I never did an exact point count of what I needed. I may buy some more VB points...the weekdays in a BC have gone up by 10 points. Those weekend points were so out of sight that we just couldn't even have considered it before this. I do think this is "fairer." The units have to be used as close to 100% of the time. This should help even out the usage.

The only othe timeshare that we ever looked at was Hilton Grand Vacation Club. Their weekend points are higher on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. I figured we were luckier than that.

I want to own a Disney Time share, that is where I want to vacation with my family, and with DH. I do not consider this an outrageous move at all.

Our average stays will actually end up costing less points. We normally stay for two weeks in a 1BR during Choice season. We'll also be saving some points on the GV next year, so I'm pretty happy.

I do feel for those who bought the exact number of points they needed - if the new points chart left me a few points short of doing what I wanted I'd be very miffed indeed! :guilty:

very upset - BLT is not even opened and they are raising the points.

they had to know this last month - did they annouce in time for us who would have brought more points - NO - A BIG NO

I guess I'm just getting tired of things costing more and getting less in return. I bought DVC as a hedge against inflation. But now I am getting two less nights for my vacation habits and my dues keep going up. So, what hedge against inflation?

In some ways, I should be happy. DVC just saved me thousands of dollars. 1) I was thinking about adding on. No more. Points are de-valued in my opinion. I'm not going to pay more for less. I will just stay two less nights each year. 2) Two less nights each year means I will not be around spending my money for food and other items for those two days. Probably minimum $60 savings there. 3) I may just start going 2 weeks every other year, and one week in between, banking points. Not as much fun as far as going to Disney. But it will save me $500 in airline tickets. Humm....maybe I should be happy.:confused3

I am "somewhat unhappy"...

Currently, I am VERY unhappy, but not so much with the changes as with the timing. This change royally screwed up my 2010 vacation plan but I can adapt our plans from 2011 on out. We didn't plan on taking 2BR trips except for 2010 when we're bringing the grandparents. After that, it would be 1BR or studios so we could work with it.

With the timing of the changes (after our 2009 points have been allocated for reservations and airfare has been purchased) we will be 25 points short for our 2010 trip.

It feels like the end of the world...but it isn't. We'll figure something out:goodvibes .

None of the poll choices are quite right for me, so I skipped the voting. I'm definitely HAPPY with how they look! It's been really hard for me to adjust stays into all weeknights to avoid weekends; it looks like it would be easier to include some Sat. or Fri. nights now, which works better for my vacation times.

I'm voting with you. :thumbsup2

Well, I just recalculated our vacation for this year using the 2010 point chart and it ended up saving us 4 points. Since we try and plan our vacation to accomodate the 5-day weekend the kids' schools always have in October, the fact that weekend nights use fewer points is a definite plus for us.

Last:

Disney is offering buyout packages to about 600 executives at the company's domestic resorts and parks unit, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday on its Web site. Affected employees have until Feb. 6 to decide take the buyouts, according to the Journal.

You think we can make recommendations for this offer. ;)

I think the proposed changes should have been presented at the Annual Members meeting so they could have explained the purpose behind the changes and given members a chance to voice their concerns. Throwing out these types of big changes on a website with little explanation is not the proper way to communicate with your customers... I also think they should have postponed the add on minimum increase until after these changes were public, allowing members to add on smaller contracts to ease the blow.. The way they did it makes us suspicious.

I realize folks who stay a full week or more may not care but part of the sales pitch of dvc is the flexibiity - going on multiple trips of shorter length - which is how we like to vacation. And though we have 285 points - it's at 2 resorts - specifically for certain accomodations at certain times - so now since I can't get a beach cottage anymore at VB - it makes my VB points fairly useless for my vacation purposes since it's pretty dang easy to book any other rooms at 7 months. I think there are a lot of dvc'ers who purchased multiple, smaller add ons for specific resorts at specific seasons, for which this has completely screwed them up.

What did I miss NOW? What is this about???:confused3 Is there another thread I need to read???? Grrrr.

Borrow them from 2011 or get a transfer of 25 points from another member.
