Looking for some opinions on the rooms, views (what to request) and overall Disney experience of the North Garden rooms at the Contemporary.

We were there for 5 nights about a month ago and LOVED it!
Here is my post http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=385567
Room request depends on what is important to you. We had a lake view, space MT view, and fireworks view. We wanted top floor so as not to hear noise over us ;) . I think if you have parking lot view you can see more of MK and the monorail also. The people across the hall from us had the playground and pool side(though not real close). Bottom floors have the patio, we just had a sliding glass door to nowhere, but we sure enjoyed opening it during the fireworks and other times to hear the train etc.
Look at a map on this site and you can tell fairly well. ENJOY!:D

I'm wondering too, what is better to ask for - a room close to the Tower to minimize walking or a room further out to enjoy the lake view/peace and quiet, etc. Any opinions?

Thanks!! :D

I stayed in the Garden wings with my children in May of 02, I faxed room request and asked for a room closest to the tower/main building on a lower floor, they gave me the first room on the first floor which was very convenient HOWEVER, it was a handicapped room and their bathrooms are different, there is no separate potty (I have boys and girls and they needed that) also it was VERY noisy. I requested to be changed the next day after a night of no sleep and they were very happy to do so. I got a room in the South Tower facing the monorail (which was pretty cool for the kids) on the third floor near the elevator, this worked out excellent.

So, my advice is, if you are looking to stay close to the Tower expect noise, but definitely go to the upper floors this will cut down on the noise level.

Thanks for your replies. What room/wing should we request for an MK or water view if you know?

We had room 7384 last august in the Ngarden Wing and it was on the third floor and we could see the monorail going into the hotel, the castle changing colors at night and the space mountain dome. It was a beautiful room with a great view for only paying for a parking lot view. Have a great time and we are going back there in August again:bounce: :Pinkbounc

We were in 7232 and had a lovely, lovely view. We had a water view, which I did not request and if we happened to be in the room, we could watch the fireworks going off! ( we could not see the park though). It was magical- our first night there, I was unpacking and feeling tired/hot and grumpy and at about 7 we hear this BOOM- my 5 year old looks out the window and said ecstatically "Fireworks!!." Everyone perked up a little after that. The room was very, very spacious and we loved it. More than enough room for our family of 4- we had a pack n play playpen set up and the stroller was parked in the room, but we never really felt like we were tripping over stuff to move around. Just my Mom and I are going back in October and I can't wait.
