I'm looking to buy one for my bedroom. Would like to hear any negatives, also any brands to stay away from? Thanks

Do you mean a flat screen, or a plasma TV? We have a 32" Sony flat screen TV and have had great luck with it. The picture is fantastic and there is hardly any glare.

Actually, Flat screens fall under 3 different categories... a regular tv with a flat screen instead of a curved screen, plasma, or LCD... Which one were you considering? & which size?

We have 3 flat screens now. One we've had for 4 years and have had no problems with it. It's also a Sony 32". (not plasma, just flat screen)

We have a JVC flat screen and it's great  There's never any glare, and the picture quality is wonderful, especially with DVDs. The only problem we have had with ours is it didn't fit on our old TV stand :p

I was looking at the flat screens 27 to 32". I didn't know there were different types. What is a plasma TV?
I'm so dumb in this area, sorry. LOL.

I would recommend Sony anyday. Although I don't have a flat screen, I've had my 27" Trinitron for 7+ years and it works and looks like the day I bought it. I'm also becoming partial to Samsung and recently purchased a 27" Samsung for DBF that has an awesome picture, sound, features and a great looking exterior. Samsung definitely has a price advantage over Sony - but if you want THE BEST, go with a Sony.

Thanks Dan for the website - that will help.
We usually buy RCA or Sony but the last RCA did not last long. I'm also checking to see what's on sale. Thanks for all the help.

We also have a 27" Sony Trinitron WEGA, ours IS a flat screen and is superb. Everyone comments on the quality of the picture.

We also have an APEX flat screen TV. It is a very inexpensive TV with a DVD player and the quality is also very good.

I agree that you can never go wrong with a sony, especially a Trinitron, but some of the less expensive TVs are just as good. Especially if it is only for your bedroom.

Gotta, say, this is my favorite of all of my husband's toys. :)

We have a 32" Sony Flat Screen, its without a doubt the best TV we've ever had.

earlier this year we bought a 60" sony hdtv lcd flat screen. It was Dh's area of expertise and according to him, lcd's were a better way to go than plasma -- in our case, because of the price advantage and because plasma's don't last as long -- supposedly about 8 years? A friend recently got a smaller version of the same lcd type tv and said that her dh had come up with the same research info...

either way, we do love our tv. You can sit at an angle from it and not have that annoying glare or faded look you usually get from a rear-projection tv... and you can play video games on it w/o the worry of any stationary backgrounds burning into the screen... I know this is a problem for other rear-projections (not sure about if it's a prob for plasmas) -- I didn't see much of a difference in clarity btw our lcd hdtv and the plasma's anyway.... certainly not for the thousands more they cost.

I would never buy a PLASMA TV not worth the money invested in them. The Plasma gas within the TV is a non rechargable gas meaning once the gas deteriorates you throw away the TV. Every time you turn on a plasma tv it degrades the image quality as the gas burns off with use. I worked in an electronics store a while back and would not sell a plasma tv I wanted my customers to actually get a good life span from the TV and not have to throw it away after 5 years. I prefer the DLP tv's for a large screen tv The sony Grand Vega is ok to but had numerous issues with the circuit boards in them for quite some time. The SHARP LCD tv's are amazing but I still [refer the DLP after the bulb burns out you simply purchase a new bulb and your tv is as good as new again and the image quality never degrades. We have a SONY 32" vega and have had nothing but problems with it that is what the kids use it has has a tuner replaced and the tube replaced. It has also had to have 3 different boards withing the TV replaced the last one was not under warranty and was about 250 dollars to have fixed.
