I need a little help on deciding where to have lunch while in AK. I haven't been to either of these and would like to try one. Which do you think is the best option? The menus of both sound pretty good! :)

I thought Yak and Yeti was table service only.

I don't know, my kids always want the McDonald's food in AK. :p

We ate at both and actually liked Yak and Yeti wayyyyy better. The ribs my sister got were pretty fatty. The two of us who ate the pork or beef sandwiches enjoyed them but they were nothing to write home about.

Yak and Yeti CS on the other hand we thought was great! I think part of it was we were having a chinese craving but really, this was such a good deal for us and oh so yummy.

I hated Yak & Yeti (aka Anandapur Locals Cafe). Flame Tree is so much better. You can get crap Chinese food anywhere, but at least where I live even good BBQ is hard to come by.

LOVE the ribs, corn muffin and key lime pie at FlameTree!

DD loves Flame Tree. We thought Yak and Yeti CS was a bit too much like mall Chinese food. Portions are big, though, at both spots.

We like flame tree slightly more than Yak and Yeti, but really enjoy yak and yeti as well...We like the lower outdoor seating at flame tree and the birds (that try to mooch your food) create a pretty neat atmosphere...The yak and yeti location is much more busy and less secluded than the flame tree...it kind of depends on what atmosphere you are looking for....

I think that the food at both locations is really good. if one of the menus appeals to you and your family more, i would lean towards that choice.

I cant wait to try Flame Tree BBQ...

I am having a hard time trying to find something for DD to eat while there, she has a peanut allergy and we stay away from chinese food. We have ADRs for Tusker House breakfast and I know the chef there last time was very accommodating, just a little nervous about the CS meals with DD. The plan was to get flame tree BBQ for me and fiance and then something else for her.

We absoutely LOVE Flame Tree BBQ and make plans to eat here every every trip. DH always get the ribs and I like the chicken, we always end up sharing anyway though.

Last year I had CS at Yak & Yeti and didn't think it was too bad, just not as good as the food at Flame Tree.

Flame Tree is the only CS place in any of the parks or resorts that I actually look forward to on each trip. It is wonderful!

I don't really like BBQ, so I went to Y&Y when the family went to Flame Tree. I was really surprised with the amount of food I got at Y&Y. I could barely finish all of it. It wasn't amazing, but it wasn't bad either. Everyone seemed to enjoy FTBBQ as well. I guess it's what you're in the mood for that day!

I enjoyed the food at both (particularly ribs and eggrolls), my vote would be to go with the flow, see whether you feel like BBQ or chinese on the day and eat accordingly :-) If you eat at Y&Y and you're not on the dining plan, I also recommend picking up a fruit tea freeze (or the suchlike) to go with your lunch from the Royal Anandapur Tea Company, which is located in the same spot.

We do not make it to AK too often but we love Flame Tree, the BBQ pork and beef sandwiches are awesome and I love the onion rings. Y&Y TS is delish too!

We really enjoyed Flame Tree a few weeks ago...as was stated earlier...the atmosphere in the low seating area is REALLY nice...very relaxing and a beautiful view right on the water. Oh yeah...the food was good too :)

We have been to Flame Tree and were not impressed. I have also heard that the CS of Yak & Yeti is not that good but that is not a Disney restaurant. Both the CS and FS of the Yak & Yeti are run by an outsourced company.
Sorry to say the only restaurant I can recommend in AK is Tusker House. Another option would be to go to the foodcourt at the AKL. The lodge is very close to the park.

I think the Yak and Yeti CS is okay. There is not much selection at the CS but the portions are HUGE. Most of the tables are out in the sun. Overall, we prefer FlameTree's food. So if I were going with other people who wanted to eat at Yak/Yeti, I would go but if it were my choice, I'd pick Flame Tree.

FWIW, I wasn't too impressed with Yak and Yeti's TS either.

I love Flame Tree. Yak & Yeti is ok. I like it, but I much prefer Flame Tree.
