Opinions on Deck 2 (Cat 9) Please...

I am thisclose to booking the cruise, but I'm a bit leary about being on Deck 2. As I understand it, some of these rooms are below the nightclubs and restaurants. Yet moving to a Cat 8 is a signif. price increase (I need two connecting cabins).

So, who has been on Deck 2 and what are your opinions? Any suggestions for certain cabins?

Good morning,

MY first and so far only DC was on level 2 ( Wonder) I had NO COMPLAINTS at all about Noise - nada - none. I was in room 2090. I recently booked my second cruise and am going to have adjoining rooms with my sister and her family as well. We are on level 2 again. I did not have any complaints about this level. The amount of time we will actually spend in it will be just to shower and sleep - and sleep we did - since we were sooooooooo bushed at the end of a day - We all slept like babies!

I've said it many times on these boards..."I love deck 2!". I love being close to the water and the location is great. It's nice to be close to the restaurants and entertainment. When you need the elevator it comes quickly and is never crowded. Even being under the nightclub didn't bother us. We just heard a bit of the bass. We were first assigned to deck 2 when we were upgraded from a Cat. 11. Now I always book it and would actually be upset to be upgraded to a Cat. 8. We prefer the Midship room location.

We just did the 4day Feb 24th and had room 2516 forward ship ... booking last minute we did not have any choice in room I think they had only 3 rooms left when we booked. We had an employee that went on carnival and we saw pictures and we thought our cat 2 was nicer than there room with verhanda. we have 2 small childern 2 & 3 and the double bathroom was great we would have stayed in Cat 2 next feb on the 7 day but I really wanted to have a verhanda for the Eastern trip.
The room was very clean the a/c was lacking in my opinion being on deck 2 I thought it would be a pain going up to the higher decks but it was not overall I would most def. do cat 2 again we really did not spen much time in the room at all.

We stayed in 2020 (cat 9) back in Feb 2003 and 2601 (cat 10) this past Feb. For our next cruise (Feb 06), we're back on deck 2 again (cat 10).

We had no issues with noise from above. Deck 2 is very convienent to the activities and food on decks 3-5. The only downer is the long climb up to decks 9 and 10.

I prefer deck 2. It's close to the restaurants and only had a minimal amount of noise from restaurant when they were setting up for dinner. I think the halls are quieter too, since only the people staying on Deck 2 would be on the floor-there's nothing else for people to walk around and see. We've stayed on Deck 2 for our first 3 cruises and have Deck 2 booked again for cruise #4 in Nov.

Deck 2 was great for us. Not one problem from anything going on above us. We were aft and used those elevators mainly and it was great almost no waiting. When went midship or forward we waited and waited.

I was leary of booking deck 2 for my first cruise and was advised by friends that work on the cruise that those were fine. We ended up in Cat 9 on deck 2 and it was terrific. My hasband had no complaints about noise. I was concerned for him as for me it doesn't matter since once I remove the hearing aids I hear nothing.

We were also on Deck 2 last year, cabin 2016. We loved it so much, we have it for this June and next July. @ other families we are traveling with also booked deck 2 just based on our pictures. We LOVED our room.

Decks 1 and 2 often are perceived as being in the "basement"....but those decks are really nice and actually all the passenger decks look exactly the same in the corridors....you will in no way feel like you are in "steerage class" LOL!!!

We have stayed on most decks on the ship and really love the Deck 2 location...very convenient to most everything, especially getting on and off the ship in ports (other than Port Canaveral where you board on Deck 3).

On our first cruise we were on deck 2 (cat 12). On our second cruise we were on deck 7 in a cat 11. The rooms were the same and we actually preferred the deck 2 location. It was a lot easier to get off the ship from deck 2 and get to the restaurants. We had no noise problems at all either trip. This next trip we are again on deck 2 in a cat 9 room. We decided to spring for a port hole although we did enjoy the dark room at night.

We were in 2078 for our last cruise (2/4/05 Eastern) and we LOVED it! We were worried at first because our first cruise was cat 6 so we didn't know if we would really miss the verandah that much but it turns out, we love deck 2 porthole rooms! Don't get me wrong - the verandahs are nice, but the money we save went towards shopping money for me! BTW, 2078 is a "noisy" room according to THE LIST, but we didn't hear a thing - we love, love, love it!

We stayed on Deck 2 last summer. I liked deck 2, but I wouldn't want the same room again. We were in 2652 and there was a lot of engine noise. The rest of my family was fine, but it woke me up whenever we were going into port. We are going to stay on deck 2 again this year, but we are moving up closer to the aft elevators.

I've been on Deck 2 for all 6 of my Disney cruises (and for cruises 7 & 8 in 2006). I find them to be convenient. If you are going to the room from dinner or pier, or from your room to the theater or clubs you can just do a flight or two of stairs and not have to wait for an elevator (which at times can take a long time).

The only thing I would caution about is being exactly midship on the starboard side. The gangplank is right there on disembarkation day. You have to get up early enough on that day (plus you are sad that vacation is over) but the noise of them putting it out did wake us.

Also, on the 10-day cruise in December we were in cabin 2572. It is a little narrower than the other cat 9 cabins we've been in. It is just a few inches narrower but if you are paying the same price, get a full size cat 9!
