Opinions on Bonnet Creek please

I was worried too when I read TA reviews and saw pictures.....but I trust the DIS. Time and time again the DIS has been 100% on about nearly everything. I figured if 100s of DIS members say BC is awesome- then it probably is.

They were not wrong :) BC is AMAZING. Our condo was clean and in great order. No issues at all.

I know that most people on the DIS sing the praises of WBC, but reading the reviews and looking at the photos on tripadvisor has made me pause a bit before shelling out for what seems to be really bad customer service and a lot of bugs. :confused3

We had a presidential and it was really, really nice. Especially when considering what we paid for it. Without a doubt the nicest place FOR THE MONEY I have ever stayed. We saw absolutely no bugs, absent the general bugs at the pool. Fwiw, I've see the bug comments on every Orlando resort I've perused on TA, including the Disney resorts. It is Florida.

Re customer service, we checked in and didn't want to be bothered. Other than checking out towels for the pool there was little to no interaction and we were fine with that. Our service at the pool for drinks was fine. I suspect the majority of the negative comments are associated with the pushy sales staff. Do not go to the parking desk (you don't need the pass) and do not answer the phone and you should be fine. We were never bothered once.

We visited in late March 2014. Hope this helps.

I used to live in Tampa, so I am not buying the "you have to deal with the bugs in your hotel because it's Florida" excuse. My house did not have bugs. The occasional lizard in the house or snake in the pool, but no bugs. :sad2:

I didn't say there were bugs in my room or that it would be acceptable. There was not any bugs and it would not be acceptable to have them in a hotel room. I merely meant that Florida is a warm humid climate and hosts plenty of bugs. I have seen people on this forum and on trip advisor raise bug issues at Disney resorts and all kinds of resorts in the Orlando area. I suspect every resort may have an issue from time to time. My experience at WBC was bug free and the best accommodations I've ever had for the money spent.

I am going to guess that that resorts have these issues from time to time because the housekeeping staff is not doing their job appropriately. :crazy2: I think what gets me about the whole thing is that it seems like the front desk has zero sense of urgency when dealing with these problems. I worked in customer service for large bank for years. If I couldn't fix a customer's problem myself, I promptly found someone who could. It honestly sounds like the place is woefully understaffed. :confused3

That certainly hasn't been my experience staying there, and I'm looking forward to returning. But if you'd rather stay elsewhere, you should do so.

So you don't really need the "Parking Pass" in order to park a rental car at Bonnet Creek? If true, I'm happy to avoid a hard-sell at that counter and just mosey across the lobby and start my vacation. :drive:

I'm here now for our first visit and I'm really enjoying it. First room had air conditioning issues so they moved us to another room and it's great. Might be hit or miss but we love our room and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

When we checked in, the gal gave us a magnetic card to get into the parking garages if needed (I guess if you come home late you'll likely need to park in the garages). The parking pass they tell you to get at the sales counter is different and you do not need it to park at WBC. We never got it as we were not interested in the sales pitch.

Cool! Thanks for the info! :cool1:

Just an FYI---for those traveling without their spouse- they will give you the parking pass without even bringing up the timeshare. It's against the law for them to sell a timeshare to you without your spouse present.

When I went to get the pass I said- 'here to get our parking pass, my mom and i are traveling on a girls trip without the husbands'....he handed us the pass and said- have a great time!

We are staying at Bonnet Creek for the second time in November. We loved in back in 2008. Rooms were large and very nice with full kitchen and laundry. They did not charge for shuttles when we last went, but they do now so we are renting a car. Pools and children's activities were very nice. I have never stayed at a disney property so I really can't compare-just my opinion that I would definitely recommend Bonnet Creek.

I have stayed onsite- at values and deluxes---IMHO- Bonnet Creek is better for about 1/3 of the price of a deluxe. The pools alone are larger and have more play areas for various age groups. I have found that even the deluxe standard rooms feel very 'shoeboxy' to me for a family of 3. Generally you can get a 1 bedroom at BC for about the price of a value resort and a 2 bedroom for about 10-20 bucks more than a value.

What I have noticed about trip advisor reviews for timeshares, many times the bad housekeeping reviews are by people that don't realize that timeshares don't come with daily housekeeping.

No, you don't need it. The parking pass is just a scam to get you to the sales weasels. It is never checked. When you enter the resort grounds, the security guard at the gate wants to see your room key, not your parking pass.

When you get to the room, unplug the phones. Anybody YOU want to talk to has your cell number, and if you need the room phone to call someone internally, you can plug it back in and then unplug when you are finished.

WBC is a very nice resort. Wyndham sales people, in most but not all locations, are a real problem and not a good reflection on a fine company.

This is so true! We were there in June and it was our first stay at WBC. We loved the resort but despite all the warnings here at the Dis, we took the $100 American Express gift card bait and what was supposed to be a 90 minute presentation ended up taking well over 3 hours! Then they lied to my sister and bil (who we were traveling with and also went to the presentation) saying "this is the same off your sister accepted" and since they know with my income, a time share is the last thing that I needed to be buying, I got a text from my bil asking if I purchased? What really upset me was it blew our entire morning the one day not at the parks and we had plans that got ripped to shreds because it took over twice as long as they said it would. Oh, and our sales person disappeared on us when taking our daughter to the kids area so I got stuck there because they wouldn't let me leave until they had her pager number!

Don't blame them for holding you way over your 90 minute agreed to time. I have done many timeshare presentations and open my mouth as they begin to approach the time limit.

Well, since this my first experience at a presentation, I didn't know I could do that. Excuse me for not being a pro like you. I don't appreciate you saying it is our fault when I was simply trying to warn others.

I have stayed there around 8 times and at the parking pass desk i always tell them I am traveling without my husband so they just say oh have a nice stay. I also usually forget to put the parking pass on the dash, it doesnt seem like you need it we have never had a problem. We have had people come to visit us there and park and no problem with that either. My friend did the timeshare tour and highly regretted it said it was a nightmare and she had to start screaming to be allowed to leave. She thought, how bad can it be??? apparently very very bad. It ruined that day and kinda soured her whole short trip.

We will be staying in a Presidential in November. Which building were you in? Did you use the WBC Shuttles to get to the parks? If so, what was your experience with that? Last time we were there, the shuttles were still free so it was great.

The shuttle times were HORRIBLE. We rented a car after the first day and saved $ even with having to pay for parking and gas.
