Opinions on Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites

On our last DLR trip, we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and had a fabulous time. This time around, since we've already had the "staying on site" experience, we thought we'd try staying at one of the off site hotels that are within walking distance of DLR. Currently, we're booked into the Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites. And now I'm beginning to worry that perhaps I've made a mistake doing so. It might be too late to change it at this late date as nothing else may be available (staying from March 9 - 18). However, if anyone has any reassuring things to say about this hotel, that would be a relief. Or if you think this place really is a nightmare, then I could see if I could possibly switch to somewhere else.

Thanks in advance,

Joy

Matterhorn recommended Desert Inn and Suites to us, and though we haven't been there yet, every time we've called with questions they've been extremely helpful. Actually, my husband had me call all the hotels in the area to see if any of them would give us a discount for our student association, so I've talked to them all. Most of the were okay, some were quite crabby, but when I called DI&S, I was relieved to be talking to someone who was not only polite, but cheerful as well.

That's our only expreience so far, but from all that I've read on this forum, it's a good place to stay. Hope this helps, I'm sure other people will chime in with better info.

For what it is worth, mouseplanet had a thread in the last day or so, talking about it and they did not appear to be happy with this hotel. May want to check it out. I think the thread title was "trip report 2/19-2/25".

Actually I just read that thread and they were more than happy with the hotel. the OP on that thread actually says she'll never go back to a hotel with a tram or shuttle. The only thing she wasn't too thrilled about was their breakfast but she had been advised ii wasn't great before she got there so it wasn't a big surprise.

I have a friend who was in the States in October from Australia. Her family stayed at the Desert Inn for 2 weeks and they liked it. We have a room booked for May.

We stayed there in October and found it very nice.If you are going to compare it to DLH then you might not like it so well.If you go with the idea of how much money you are saving and how much closer you will be,then you'll like it.It is really nice to run back to the hotel for coats etc...We stayed in Dec next door at the Park Vue Inn and hated it.So on our next trip in June we are staying at the DI.The thing I like is that they have a seperate vanity outside the bathroom which makes getting ready in the morning much easier. The breakfast stinks but it will save you a few bucksThe rooms are clean and pretty big.As long as you go with an open mind and know it is not the Marriott you will be fine.Don't cancell, they are very nice and friendly people.

There is another board that hates this place with a passion but I'm glad I didn't listen to them.As a matter of fact I quit going to that board because they were very negative about everything. Now I only come here.

It was not fancy, but it was a close walk and we had so much room. (We had the big suite that sleeps 10) You also can't beat the price -- I would definitely stay there again.

We stay there all the time!! It is clean, close, comfortable, and relatively cheap for the amount of room you can get!! I don't care about the breakfast as we only use it for milk to take back to the room and we bring cereal and bowls. Works great for us!! It is right across the street, such an easy walk.

I have never had so much as a single problem there in 5-6 trips already!! It is my #1 offsite pick. I don't really care for the pool as it is indoors but we don't use it so it hasn't mattered much! If the pool is a big thing for you, then you may be ookay with it and you may not!!

Other than that, the only thing I can even come close to thinking of complaining about is SLOW elevators but that's only because we have two double strollers when we go so we have to wait to get a completely empty one which can take a while from the higher floors the suites are on!! I like being on floor 5 as it will always be empty going down!!

Have a great trip!!

Well we are glad you come here still!!:) I think it goes to show that anyone can complain about anything!! There are tons of complaints also for DLH and the Grand, so if we went off that, we'd never stay anywhere.
