Our camera is a Fuji, and we're very happy with it.
When I researched digital cameras, I was surprised to find that the best ones tend to be companies that tend to make film cameras (Kodak, Fuji, etc.) and not computer companies.
My parents got a Fuji Finepix and have had very good luck. It doesn't seem to require much skill-as in it's a point and shoot digital camera. Our more expensive Sony doesn't always have as clear pictures as theirs.

We have a Sony right now that we got three years ago. We have noticed that the pictures don't seem to be as clear. Besides the fact that it is so big and bulky.
No, actually it isn't small at all. We bought it about 2 years ago so those tiny ones weren't out yet. It looks more like a regular camera but I want the small one so it can fit in my purse. I wish I had a pic to show you but it is the S3000 model.
I bought a Fuji Finepix 2800 about 3 years ago and I absolutely love it. It has a terrific 6X optical zoom and the color is great. I researched the camera on Steve's Digicams website.
We liked our first FinePix camera so much that we bought a second one. My only complaint is that the camera seems to use a lot of battery power and it takes a long time for the newer one to focus. But once you get used to the slight lag that is present in most digital cameras (and not unique to the FinePix), I agree that you may never go back to film.
