Opinions of the Wave?

I have never eaten there, but I looked at the dinner menu today...

I think it looks really good!

I might be up for switching my reservation from Kona to the Wave!

We had dinner at the wave last January and were very disappointed. I ordered the chicken pot pie and it was more like a chicken stew. Its pretty inside, but I didn't think the food was great. I have read reviews were people loved it, so if you've seen the menu and something there appeals to you, try it. Maybe you will have better luck than I did.

Our Ratings of The Wave (Breakfast Buffet):
. . . food price value: C+
. . . food quality: B
. . . food quantity per serving: B
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: B (not yet widely known, so not busy)
. . . seating comfort: B
. . . eatery atmosphere: C
. . . eatery convenience: B
. . . staff friendliness: B
. . . staff helpfulness: A
. . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: This is a new location for a breakfast buffet. The buffet
is not overly lengthy or widely diverse, but more than ample in
selection and quantity. At just under $20 per adult, it is a reasonable
buffet for WDW, but the selection quantity slightly reduces the
perceived value to a "C+" from a "B". However, as buffet breakfast,
it is probably the best-kept secret in WDW.

NOTE: The Wave is one of those dependable WDW
eateries. Dependably below average. Never anything to jump
and scream about. But, like many other WDW eateries have
become, it is overrated for quality, and thus overpriced.

Our family really enjoys lunch and dinner here. Its nothing out of the ordinary as far as restaurants go. The food is very good and it's run of the mill restaurant. No characters, no big shows, no music or entertainment. With that said though we continue to return and think it's one of the hidden restaurants of Disney that is continually overlooked. In our opinion its one of the best non-signature restaurants for food quality of property.

We LOVE dinner there. Probably won't do breakfast there again, but dinner there is fantastic. We really enjoy The Wave!

We ate lunch there this past November and really enjoyed it. Although I had read some things about it prior to our ADR I wasn't really expecting the food to be anything but average. I will say that it was very good and I enjoyed it very much. Agree with other poster that the resturant itself isn't much, but we will definately be giving it another try on our trip in June.

Have a Wonderful Vacation. :goodvibes

We love it. Have been there a few times for dinner and have enjoyed it each time. Maybe it depends on what you eat there. I've had the fish most times and it's always been excellent as well as the pork tenderloin.

If you're staying at BLT I would definitely check it out since it's convenient. We also love their breakfast.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

My family had dinner there in January and everyone agreed we will be returning. Dad even said it was his best meal of the trip (he had the linguini with clams.) The other 3 of us had steak. The best part for me was the dessert trio, very nice! We were staying at The Contemporary so it was obviously convenient. We also had great service. I would recommend it.

:thumbsup2 We absolutely agree!

It was excellent when we ate there for dinner in December - one of the better meals. We needed another ADR to make up for one we canceled during our last trip and booked The Wave at last minute.

I hope the breakfast is decent when we go in a few weeks. I'm not expecting a lot but I do love some eggs and waffles! Thanks to those who shared their experience.

Having spent a couple of nights on my February trip knocking back a few drinks at The Wave's bar, I was surprised by how retro the atmosphere was. The colors, design, and layout reminded me of a hip lounge in a midsize town in 1986.

I'm not sure how intentional it was.

I have to tell you I never tasted a grit in my life until we had the breakfast buffet at the Wave last month and was I ever pleasantly surprised. Not sure if most grits are as good as theirs, actually our server told me he likes grits but said, by far, the grits at the Wave are the best he's ever had (yeah, sure, he works there :lmao:)...but he did go on to add that they are made with cream and bacon and smoked cheese (yes all the fattening stuff, but soooo good!) The Wave is actually our favorite place for breakfast in WDW. My dd loves their made from scratch biscuits.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I love the eggs bennie!
