When we go to Disney next summer our kids will be 6 and 2.

So...what's my best plan/option ?

1) bring our sit and stand-does not recline well enough for a good nap for the 2yr old...heavy,hard to turn

2)Bring a single stroller with an awesome recline and easy to use...6 yr will be on her own if we do this

3)Rent a city mini double...I believe it was $80 but then we would be set for both kids..I keep questioning myself if its ridiculous to allow the 6 yr old to use a stroller...but its going to be HOT (august) and a ton of walking

I would do option 2, with an add on. Bring the single stroller you have, then either rent or buy (used, on sale...) a second single for the 6 year-old. If you have 2 singles, the 6 year-old can ride as needed, but you're not pushing around a giant double with one empty seat.

At that age, we would stroll do an area, then walk to all nearby attractions, then stroll to the next area. We would also leave one stroller in the room if we went to Downtown Disney, or were going back to the parks in the evening when it was cooler.

We were there for 6 park days with a 7, 5 and a 3. The double was needed for us. The city mini is a great stroller, easy to push and my kids napped easily in it. My kids melted in the heat of September and did not have nearly the stamina that they do at home. I was surprised that my 5 year old napped in the stroller one afternoon. I also like to walk faster than they do, so it was nice that they could be pushed. All three took turns in it. We are renting a double again with a 9, 7 and 5. It feels like they should all be able to walk, but I'm worried about the heat. Our summer has been fairly cool this year year so none of us is as prepared for the heat.

City Mini Double!!

We have 5yr & 2yr and used the double for 2 trips
Our first being in Oct 2012 (which then we bought the exact stroller when we got home)
On our last trip (Dec '13) our 5 yr old wanted to sit in it more than our 2yr old

And the City Mini is easy fold up and fits everywhere

I would rent a city mini double. That way it would give your daughter the option to "rest" ie: not walk or even nap if she wanted to.

My kids will be 5 and 2, and I plan on getting the double. I'm sure my older will like a place to rest on occasion. She doesn't need one normally and if people think she's too big or too old, I don't care.

What about renting a City Select and adding the rider board so that it is then a sit and stand stroller? IT's the same company as the City Mini, so the same great recline on it, but also the perks of a sit and stand. While the 6 y/o may need some stroller time, it may not be enough/day to really need a true double stroller...I'd probably go for the city select/rider board option (try Kingdom Strollers..I think they have that combo available)

We leave in 8 days; my kids are 8, 5, and 2 (almost 3). We have rented a City Mini Double and I'm already SO glad we did. We went to our county Fair a few days ago & just brought a stroller for the 2-year-old. The 5-year-old got so tired. He has a lot of energy & he didn't really complain, but when the rest of us tried to pick up the pace he really had to hurry & he was completely wiped out after a few hours. It definitely validated my decision to rent the double stroller for our vacation!

My friend has a Double Bob and 3 kids (7,4,1). The seven yr old regularly rides on the foot rest area, there is space for her to fit. They can be rented from the offsite stroller places.

Just wanted to give you a testimonial from another perspective - a child's. We went when my brother and I were kids. My parents rented a stroller for my brother and I mostly walked. Still to this day I remember how jealous I was of my brother's "ride". It was a lot of walking and I remember being really tired by the end of trip. I wished there was a stroller for me! I was about 7 1/2 at the time and a very active kid (sports, gymnastics, etc), so it can take it out of anyone!
