Our family currently has reservations for Tony's Town Square for our first dinner. I have heard mixed reviews on Tony's Town Square and was wondering if we should switch our ADR to Tutto Italia! Thank you in advance for your opinions.:)

no contest, imho :)
we find tony's okay, food is more akin to a pizzaria, & certainly not one of the better NY pizzarias ;) (sauces taste jarred, not much creativity with the menu) .
tutto italia has a more elegant atmosphere, with a varied & somewhat unusual menu. we have only eaten there once (the week it opened), but were impressed with the restarant overall, & have ADRs for both our may & oct visits :thumbsup2
hth :)

We had lunch at Tonys this past October and enjoyed it very much. We are Italian and I cook Italian (learned from my off the boat Nana)... and I thought the food was very good (not the best). One problem was there was too much dressing on the kid's salad. Besides that, we were pleasantly surpirsed. Very traditional foods. Nothing fancy. And we don't like fancy.... The menu at Epcot is very different. They have a different take on Italian food. Very fancy. Very expensive. Wonderful atmosphere. You are paying top $ for top foods. And many have not been happy with the food there either.

I really don't think you can compare the two. But if you are looking for some pasta go to Tonys. If you are, looking for an experience go to Epcot.

Thank you for your opinions. I greatly appreciate the opinios of others when making decisions.:)

I'm making ADR's for my parents. I haven't eaten at any of the sit down meals. Does Tony's or maybe Mama Melrose compare to Olive Garden (that's their favorite)? They need something to say it is like, very hard to get them to decide.

They are not really like the Olive Garden.... I do think Tony's better than Mama Melrose. We went to Mama Melrose twice and were not really happy either time. The sevice was good both times but the sauce there is terrible. The food has a lot of oil and the food is kind of like rubber with a sauce on top. Tony's was much better. I would tell them that Tony's is more like Olive Garden in flavor. However, forget the endless bread basket and soup combo. Many people like Olive Garden for the deals. Tony's not very expesive and the food is very traditional. The sauce is a traditional red without lots of chunks and is not spicey... so I would say the two make a better comparision.

tony's focuses more on southern italian (prob more what your parents would like ~ red sauces); mama melrose does northern italian (lighter sauces) better, imho (btw, my grandparents opened a restaurant here after their immigration from northern italy ~ i grew up on their cooking, prob why i prefer northern italian cooking ;) ~ but it is a matter of personal preference :) ).

did you look at the menus for both? perhaps if they saw the offerings, they might prefer one over the other. have a great time, whatever you decide! :thumbsup2
