Ok, Fellow DISers, I need your opinions/thoughts/ideas on my moving plan.

A little info: we are moving from Michigan to Florida in about 6-8 weeks. House should be done mid-August or sooner, with the closing about a week later. It will be my boyfriend, my Mom, and I. Here's the plan:

-Fly down to Florida for closing. Stay 3-4 days to paint house interior - 11 rooms. We will have a rental car, so no problem getting supplies.

-Fly back to Michigan, finish packing (mostly already done), and load up the truck for the trip down (we will have 2 more helpers for this).

Do you think 3-4 days is enough to paint 11 rooms? It's going to be a high-quality, (hopefully) 1 coat paint. I really would like to have all painting done before moving any furniture in. They are going to be mostly lighter-toned colors, so I am not very concerned about them not looking right in different light, etc.

What do y'all think? Have I lost my mind or am I on the right track? I'm new to this moving cross-country thing!

TIA!:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Well, that maybe pushing it days wise.

We wash, dust and prime all walls. We use oil based primer, so it takes a bit longer to dry, but so worth it. We also prime and paind the ceiling as well.

While we are dusting, we tape all around the rooms as well.

We just did my sons room, and it took almost one day for that room. (And we haven't done the trim yet!)

As for the primer - we paid extra up front to have all priming done with a latex based primer beforehand. (That is the worst job, IMO) Plus, the ceiling will be done too.

Plus, I am an old pro at painting and have a very steady hand, so no taping needed.:smooth:

Would it be worth the expense to rent a paint sprayer?? I know you'd have to really cover up the floor and doors/windows, etc. but it might pay off in the time saved. Of course, I've never used one before -- maybe someone else can offer advice on this.

BTW -- Best of luck with the move..... I feel like ours was just yesterday (can't believe it's almost 9 months now)!

Wow, Debbie, it has been that long, hasn't it? Time flies!

As for the paint sprayer, I think I would be waaay too dangerous with something like that!

If this is a brand new house forget it you will never be done in 3-4 days. When I moved to my house I could not believe the amount of paint these walls soaked up and that was with using very high quality primer and paint and in light shades.
