Going Thanksgiving weekend and need opinions!

Just myself, DH, and DS (age5). Staying at WL.

Wed night- we don't know when we will arrive this day, so will probably just grab something from the food court OR should I make a PS for Whispering Canyon??

Thurs- EE at MK. We have gone around and around about this. We wanted to do LTT for dinner (have done it before, but not for Thanksgiving), but are not sure that we want to deal with the crowds in the evening there that day. We are thinking of just doing CP for lunch and then getting out of there for the day.

Fri- Epcot or MGM day.
Artist Point??? What should we order?I'm kind of sick of salmon and like to try new things. What appetizers are good??? Entrees? desserts? Can we bring our dessert back to our room? DS will go to Cub's Den this night.

Sat -Epoct or MGM day.
Should we do Chef Mickey for dinner for DS's 6th birthday??? We have never been. Can we take the boat over? How late can we take the boat back? How is the food? Do they do anything special for birthdays?

sunday- going home-boo hoo!!!!!

we love love love whispering canyon for breakfast. would reccommend it over artist points breakfast for sure. dinner was ok.

the hoop dee doo revue is a great meal for your arrival day. we also took our son there for his birthday adn they made a great fuss.

chef mickeys is fun but we enjoyed LTT better as characture meals go.

Artist Point. You can get the dessert to go if you need to . The cobbler is so oooo good! I like th e mushroom soup for a starter--just wonderful. The chicken was really good as well. We did the wine pairings as well and found this to be one of our favorite dining experiences.
I would just go ahead with eating fast food on arrival day becasue so many other things factor into it. The pressure of a PS can sometimes be crazy and you may not feel like sitting for a full meal.
Chef Mickey's has always been a must do for us on each trip--we have never been disappointed! I enjoy CP for lunch. It is a nice respite from the crowds of MK and it really is beautiful in there. Mention that it is DS birthday when you make your PS, and when you check in at the podium. Boats usually run form the CR to WL until one half hour after park closing.

we really like breakfast at whispering canyon cafe, but not big fans of dinner there. now, artist point is another story--we love dining there. i have tried the open range chicken served there and found it to be very very good. my husband and youngest son(21) had the buffalo and both declared it great! in july we had a large group dining at AP and everyone seemed to try at least one of the desserts and all were fabulous. as far as having dessert "to go" why not? go for it!! happy dining!:p

Artist Point has no breakfast. Try a breakfast or lunch at Whispering Canyon - the antics there would be lots of fun for small boys.

I've had the following items at Roaring Fork - oatmeal with a banana for breakfast, and chili for dinner. It was all good. That is the cheapest breakfast and dinner I've ever gotten at a WDW resort, because I could pick up this stuff without any added extras.

Another vote for Artist Point's mushroom soup. I had the Asian shrimp last time I was there. I was scolded by one of my dinner companions for ordering something that didn't have MEAT in it. The other was a quasi-vegetarian, so she didn't get scolded. The shrimp was great. My carnivore friend loved the hunk o' beef (tenderloin). The semi-vegetarian had the salmon. I definitely wish they'd had that chai tea cheesecake that's on the menu now. I opted for appetizer and no dessert so I can't recommend one.

I've never been to CP so I can't comment on that one. I try to stay away from Pooh if possible.

I've never been to Chef Mickey's either but from what I 've heard it's the ultimate in little-kid birthdays.

Somebody mentioned the Hoop-De-Doo. It's a real hoot - boys your son's age seem to especially enjoy it - but it's expensive. If you want to spend the cash, definitely try it out. You're close by at WL, just a boat ride away and probably just a boat ride back if you go to an early show and the MK is still open when you get out.

ooohhh.......one of our party in july**did**have the chai tea cheesecake and she said it was fabulous!!:p

Another vote for the buffalo at Artist Point. It is very lean and has sort of a sweet, rich taste to it. Never had anything like it before. YUMMY!

I'm definitely thinking about that cobbler! I'm thinking of ordering the trio.

I just got the Disney Catalog and they have t-shirts you can order and personalize (with different pictures to choose from). You get a 15% discount if you order four or more. You can have 3 lines with up to 36 charcaters per line.
How's this:

Celebrating
Marcus' 6th birthday
at Walt Disney World!

...goes, it is NOT a food court in the typical sense like POR, CBR, etc. but rather a "quick" food type eatery, with a limited selection of hot and cold items (more like a deli-type place) with a small "dining room" area.
BTW ~ I HIGHLY recommend Le Cellier....fantastic steaks, YUMMY cheese soup and pretzel bread sticks (and don't forget the Chocolate "Moose" for dessert!! Gosh, darn, now I got myself HUNGRY!!:( )

Here's my opinions:
1. Chef Mickey's -- breakfast here is not bad. Had dinner here on last trip and never, never again.
2. Crystal Palace -- one of my favorite places to dine.
3. Roaring Forks -- we ate here quite often when we stayed at the WL. Food was good.
