I'm having a really hard time coming to a decision on what to get my little one for Christmas. She'll be four a week after Christmas. She's very much into pretending right now (though she pretends to have siblings, poor thing) ... so I know a baby doll would be a great idea.

However, I am stuck between the Bitty Twins and the My Disney Girl. I don't know which one to go with.:confused3

With the Bitty Twins, I could get her two ... and then spend a small fortune getting them different outfits. I know they are something she'll love ... and having the choice with two girls or a boy and girl are awesome. I think they are cute, but are they worth the money?

With the My Disney Girl ... well, my little one is obsessed with Disney. She's going to be an Olympic Diver and a ballet dancer for the Princesses (her words). Needless to say, I'm raising a Disney lover! Are they worth the money? Are they available at the Outlets? Are the soft(ish) and durable?

Thanks in advance ... I figure Santa will bring her the baby ... and then the following week momma will be "so awesome" with baby clothes ... whomever I decide to buy.

My daughter has Bitty Baby. My daughter is 10 and still loves her baby. In fact, she and her neighber (11 years old) were playing with their Bitty Babies today. Bitty is well loved, she has even gone on the Disney Cruise (we even got a passport from Build a Bear for her) with us. I am not familiar with the other baby, but Bitty Baby is a favorite among my daughter and her friends. They love to dress them and play with all the accessories.

I would go for the bitty baby too. My dd loves hers (we didn't do twins) and we did all the bitty baby furniture and such,

I would go with the bitty baby also. You can always get the clothes off of ebay for cheaper.

I was thinking about getting my 4yo and 3yo the bitty twins. My 3yo son is obsessed with the regular american girl dolls and has a knockoff one.

I will follow suit and recommend the bitty baby or bitty twins for a 4yo.

My dd's LOVED theirs and my 10yo still plays with hers now and then. They also each have the AG doll (for older kids) and she gets played with all the time and a my disney girl that sits on the shelf most of the time.

There is something about the feel and weight of the bitty baby and since the doll is so well made it can stand up to heavy play (10 years worth). The clothing is also well made and easy for little hands to manipulate without ripping.

My neice got a BB last Christmas and she and my 10yo played together with them all summer despite the age difference. IMHO they are a more lasting toy.

Have fun deciding :)

My daughter has a bitty baby, AG doll and the My Disney Girl doll. The AG dolls hold up nicer and have better hair than the Disney dolls. She loves her Disney doll very much, but I would invest the money in an AG doll like the bitty twins if I were choosing which to buy :)

I would go with the bitty baby.

DD started with the bitty baby at 3 1/2 (that how old she was at Christmas) and she loved it. Then she worked up to an American Girl doll, then back down to the girl bitty twins at Christmas, Then the girl like you, then the bitty boy twins, etc.

The point is, they all have held up amazingly. She isnt rough with her toys but still putting the clothes on and off, moving them around in a wagon inside, etc.

The My Disney girl doll she got at the princess tea party is at the bottom of the toy bin. The hair is a mess and she wasnt very easy to dress for DD. I would go with the American Girl bitty baby or bitty baby twins.

Another vote for Bitty Babies! My DD8 still plays with her baby my mom got her when I had DS. My DD was 2.5 at the time. My son occassionally picks up Baby too. DD named her after my DH and DS! So it is sort of DS's twin and he even has a special little bond with the baby. Its kinda cute just not when DH is home!!!

I have gotten a few outfits of ebay for the bitty baby and DDs other AG doll. All very well made and worth the money, much less than AG.

I vote for Bitty Baby too (not the twins). DD5 got Bitty for Christmas just before she turned four, and she LOVES that doll. She also has the twins and likes to play with them, but she loves Bitty. Bitty is the doll that goes on trips with her, that goes to Show and Tell at school, that rides in the car, and that goes to play at a friend's house. DD has many other babies of all types and sizes, but Bitty is by far her favorite.

I recommend the starter kit (about $90) - it comes with the doll, some clothes, a trunk, a blanket, bottles, etc. More than enough to get her started, and other clothes and items can come from other people or be given to her on other occasions.

Edited to add: I just looked online, and the starter set has changed. It is now $110 and has different items. I guess you'd need to look and see if the new set is worth the cost to you.

are 7/9 and both have a Bitty. (I had to buy one for my son after he kept stealing his sister's.) They had them outside this weekend for a picnic. My doll-loving son sleeps with his every night. They certainly look loved, but they have been around here for 5+ years now and are still played with.

They also have the My Twinn dolls that look like them. They are played with too, but not as much as the Bittys.

Another vote for Bitty Baby. The Disney girl's hair will get matted faster, plus American Girl has a doll hospital in case of any accidents. ;)
Another note about the clothes for Bitty Baby/Twins: sign up for email updates from American Girl, since they have clearance sales a few times a year and you can get clothes and accessories just as cheap as sets from Target. There are a few sets up right now, including a Christmas one.

Bitty Twins. They also hold their value more than the My Disney doll and are a better quality. Plus if she does mess them up some how AG has a doll hospital.

Wow, thank you all for your advice!

I was leaning towards the Disney doll because she's pretty much in LOVE with anything Disney. However, I hadn't even considered the Bitty Baby. My daughter right now is pretending to have siblings, so I thought the Twins would be cute for that fact, she wants a brother and a sister.

However, I'm pretty sure we'll be getting the Bitty Baby ... you guys have done AG proud, I'm not sure they could have sold me on the baby any better.

Thanks!

My daughter is getting a Bitty Twin for Christmas. I only want one doll so my friend and I are splitting the Twins. My dd will be 3 in early January and has already been to the Princess Tea Party so she has the Disney girl doll and the quality isn't good. She also loves princesses so I had three princess gowns made for her and matching doll dresses for the AG Bitty Twin. They will have matching Belle, Aurora and Jasmine.

I can't wait until Christmas! Let me know if you are interested and I can tell you where to get the doll dresses.

BTW, I chose the Bitty Twin because I wanted the doll to have hair and the Bitty Baby doesn't.

Adding another option into the mix- my DD loved her Goetz doll toddler doll. The Goetz Maxi Muffins (wierd name, I know!) are a similar size to Bitty Twins. Tuesday Morning often has them for less than you can find them online.

Goetz (aka Gotz) is a German company that were the original manufacturers of the American Girl dolls til AG was bought out by Mattel. Very nice quality dolls- and machine washable. We tested that a couple times when DD thought her baby would like to drink hot cocoa. (????)

If you opt to go with the Bitty Baby, QVC has a special on tomorrow night on AG dolls. The trailer looks like it will include Bitty Babies. Not sure what the "deal" will be, but might be worth looking.

DD is 4 and got a bitty baby for Christmas last year. I ordered it off of ebay, and it had been a twin. My mom bought her a dress that matches a dress for the bitty baby and she loved it so much, we had her 4 yr old pic taken with her and the doll. The pics are absolutely darling.
