opinions for Jan.

hey everyone. i don't know where to post this, but i'll give it a shot. my friends and i are talking about going to wdw in Jan. as a graduation present to ourselves. i asked on one of the other threads about what the best time to go would be, and i haven't got much as far as responses. i know i want to avoid the first week and isn't the marathon around that time too? someone had suggested to avoid MLK day too. so is it crazy to try and go in Jan? any ideas on when would be a good time. we are trying to aim for value season and the general consensus would be to go in Jan....please help! thanks!

We just returned from a January trip. We had low crowds and great weather. I would go this week again in a heartbeat. DD would love it too - she had her 5th birthday while we were there on Jan 10th!

We arrived Sunday, Jan 7th (which was the last day of the Marathon weekend) and left Saturday, Jan 13th (the Sat of MLK weekend.) The only day that we felt was really busy was our last day, but it was also the early day at the park we visited, MGM. It worked out great for us!

crzyred, COME ON DOWN! Looking at next year's calendar I would say that the crowds for the most part will disappear after the 5th/6th weekend. European tourists seem to be able to stick around through another weekend but even with them here, it's still nothing like the crowds during Christmas and New Years. MLK weekend does not dramatically change the crowds either so if that weekend gives you flexibility, go for it. (The Marathon won't effect the crowds either; those people are here to run one or both days.)

January is a GREAT time to visit WDW as you can nearly walk onto all the rides....with no wait or very short waits.

Be sure to include the clubs at Pleasure Island for your Saturday night!
