We currently have an ADR at Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom for dinner and the time isn't really great now that I've thought about it. It is for 8pm and the park doesn't actually close until 9 that night I believe. I've heard better reviews for lunch versus dinner so I'm thinking of booking late lunch and we are staying club level at AKL so we will have stuff there for snackwise when we return after the park close so I'm thinking of either switching the times or perhaps picking something completely different. Is it any good? I've heard conflicting reports like some saying the one in DTD is better, etc. If we don't do that for lunch, I guess we could do the Tusker House for late lunch instead. I'm just wanting to pick the best one and the reviews out on the Rainforest Cafe aren't really great. Kind of like the Sci-Fi at Epcot. Let me know please-THANKS SO MUCH:thumbsup2

I love the place. My wife hates the place. I don't think there is much difference between AK and DD though. I say stick with your plans and be the last ones to leave the park area. :-)

We ate there in 06. The only mistake I made was not making an ADR. We waited almost 90 mins for a table! But once we were seated, the food was very good. Better than I expected it to be, considering the ones I've been to in Connectictut have had pretty bad food:sick: Then again, I had a burger too so I can't speak for the food that they serve exclusively. It was just a really really good burger:rotfl: :rotfl: If you have kids though, I think they will really enjoy it. There's a thunderstorm, and they have animatronic animals that dance and move. They have a great kids menu too. The servers also are are very awesome with the kids. It's loud, so be prepared, but if you dont mind its really fun....did i mention the burgers are good?:lmao:

We LOVE it! The ribs are the best I've ever had and my BBQ Chicken wrap was very tasty. :) Go eat there!

Btw, we had it for lunch.

I HATE this place. I don't know why people waste their time going here. I mean, it's nice to go and look at, but the food quality for the outrageous price that they charge is SOOO not worth it. If you live near one, go there, I wouldn't waste precious Disney time going here.

By the way, this is just my opinion......

The food was good when we ate there. My only complaint is the noise. I was not a fan of the monkeys that start making noise ever so often. It had been a hot day at AK and I guess I was on edge! So, it was probably just me. I can't imagine there is any difference between the DTD and AK restaurants. Just leave your ADR as is and enjoy!

Honestly, we didn't like it at all and wouldn't go back. I've been to other RFC around the US and don't remember it being as bad as the one at AK. We waited for over an hour for our food and it was mediocre at best. There are too many other wonderful places to eat at DW.

That being said, you pretty much can't beat the atmosphere so if you love that part and don't mind mediocre and expensive food, then go for it. My dd loved the place! We sat right by the elephant.

Personally, I like the Rainforest Cafe. I've never noticed a difference in quality between the AK one and the one at DTD. However, I happen to have found a dish I really enjoy (Rasta Pasta) and that's the only thing I've ever gotten there. So I can't agree or disagree with anybody else's review of the food. (Though I've never heard any complaints from anybody I've gone with either. :confused3 ) If you've never been to a RFC before though, it's a great experience. Give a call and see if there's a late lunch available if you're concerned about dinner, but if I were you I would still take RFC over Tusker House. HTH! :goodvibes :hippie:

I agree!!!

We like it. We always do lunch there during our day at AK to break up the day and get out of the heat for a while.

RFC in general gets mixed reviews on these boards, and gets bashed alot.
We like it, but we take it for what it is: Applebee's/Friday's type food, a little more overpriced than usual, with a cool atmosphere, but is located at WDW. The menu is diverse, the food is above average in quality, and the prices are in line with the other WDW eatery prices. The food is pretty much the same, but the AK location is usually less crowded than the DTD one.

We usually eat at RFC once while we are at WDW. We have eaten at both, mostly DTD and honestly I don't think I felt one was better than the other....basicly like going to two different Red Lobsters, its all the same food and only variation would be who's cooking it, which would vary from shift to shift.

I think it gets bashed because it is a themed restaurant, but not necessarily fine dining. It is a nationwide chain and the food represents that. I have had good meals and so so meals...but never feel disappointed. We have one relatively near by....but don't feel the need to go to it, maybe on occassionally, but at Disney it is fun!

the past 3 times we've been to disney, we've eaten at RFC@AK. we've never thought the food was great, but we usually had a somewhat pleasurable experience. on our last trip in Sept 07, we realized the food isn't very good and it's rather expensive + our 2 yr old wasn't too fond of the monkeys screaming & beating their chests above our table every 10-15 minutes. hence, we will not return to RFC@AK on our upcoming trip in Sept.
