We have are here now scheduled to fly back to Boston on Sunday at 6:00 pm. I am contemplating waiting until the first flight on Monday morning. Right now there is availability. I thought about trying to leave early on Saturday, but I will be following the storm. My hope is to avoid the storm. My kids really want to be home for the first day of school on Tuesday. Oh, how I hate flying. The flight to Orlando on the 16th was really, really bumpy.

Good thing is no storm in Orlando, yet. Just wind.

Thoughts?

I live in the boston area as well...I would get reserved on the first or second flight on Monday morning...I'm sure that the Sunday night flight would get cancelled and then you wouldnt get rebooked before Tuesday....

Not Irene related, but you are missing one heck of a thunderstorm now!! Enjoy the rest of your trip!!!

If the storm takes the path predicted there is a very good chance your Sunday evening flight will be cancelled anyway, if there is availability now and it is easy to switch it I would switch it.

I think I would change to the Monday flight...we have friends down there that were supposed to take the train back on Sat. all trains heading up the east coast cancelled and they don't think they can get back until Thurs.

The Boston weather reports are looking pretty bad (I am in Mass) for Sunday. I would not be surprised if the flights are cancelled. If you can grab the Monday flight now maybe you should, if you wait too long the flights will be full.

we have a 7:50 pm flight Monday to Newark NJ from mco..I am worried we won't make it home Monday evening because of this storm!!

I think Monday will still be windy based on the current predictions/storm path. I would book a Monday afternoon flight rather than morning, if you can. Good luck and enjoy the rest of your vacation!

It's very likely that you have already waited too long to rebook for Monday. It's possible flights are already full for that day and even later in the week.

If there is availablity now I would book now. Other wise you could be stuck and not get home for several days.
Last May we were in MCO and a storm was in our flight path and cancelled our flight to Cleveland. We hurried up and rebooked for the next day. As we waited for the tickets to be reprinted we heard others in line who were also going to Cleveland being told they would not be able to get them out for 3 days. Tempers were hot! I felt so bad for the ticket agents.

Just heard on the Boston news that Jet Blue has cancelled all flights into Boston on Sunday..hope you got that other flight!

There really isn't a lot of time to think about it. If there is availability now for Monday morning grab it. As a PP said, soon you will have no options!

Lots of mis-information floating around (from the airlines.) It took me 12 hours to get an agent on the phone. Needless to say, with every flight cancelled, flights early next week are completely overbooked. Hmmm, maybe I will drive.

Also keep in mind that even if your flight is cancelled and the airport closes, it may take a while after the storm until it opens again, and then all the airlines will probably need to inspect their planes for any damage that might be parked at the airport and then once that's done you'll be 1 of hundreds of thousands that will be trying to rebook a flight. Don't count on getting out the next day, it may be several days until you could get on a flight (might be better to drive if the roads are passable up there).
