Hi all!

I just upgraded to a Canon 70D and am looking to downsize my equipment to help cover the cost. I got a good deal on the 70D by getting the 18-55mm STM kit and a 55-250mm STM bundle. I've decided to sell the 18-55mm STM for sure since I already have an 18-135 STM. But I'm torn on the zoom. I've had the 70-300mm USM for years and have always liked it, but I'm wondering if keeping the STM zoom makes more sense. What do you guys think? Which one should I sell?

Thanks much!

supposedly the newer STM version of the 55-250IS is a bit sharper with better AF but if you have both why not compare and keep the one you like best

I'd probably go with the 55-250 STM myself.

I've been playing with them and I'm leaning towards the 55-250mm. Every time I think I've made the decision, I start to doubt it. I like the extra zoom but the STM lens is so much smaller, lighter, and quieter. I guess I'll keep playing over the weekend and make a decision on Monday.

I now have better lens but I've kept my original 55-250IS because it is small and pocket size (literally), good for traveling light. I'll only get rid of it if I don't own a crop model.

I had a 70-300 and it was a bit soft from 200-300m. The creep on this lens is horrible, which is why it has a zoom locking it.which works, but hinders your ability to shoot quickly. You either deal with your lens zooming out while hanging or just remember to disengage the lock every time you get rea d y to shoot.

The reviews I've read about the 55-250 have been all positive. It's a modern lens with a modern IS system. Sharp through its zoom range, with few complaint.
