I know it's early but we just got back from WDW and I'm an obsessive planner so I'm already looking at our 2018 DL trip. We've been to DL 3-4 times before but as an add-on to a bigger trip; this will be the first DL-only trip.

I was originally looking at Sat April 29-Sat May 5, being in the parks Sun-Fri on a 4 day ticket (undecided right now of PH or not). After reviewing the 2017 special events, I completely forgot about May the 4th (which would be the Friday we're there and we want to be in DL for the fireworks to end our vacation) and possible Grad Nights. Because of this, I'm thinking of the week before, Sat April 21-Sat April 28, again being in the parks 4 days between Sun-Fri. Would appreciate any thoughts on these two weeks from the experts. Since we're a year out, we're flexible so can consider other dates in the Spring if it means lesser crowds.

I would say avoid races and holidays although Easter was empty so it blows that theory! Crowds are so unpredictable, and if crowds are way low, locals will notice on their wait time apps and head in.
Truly I would say go when is absolute best for you, the Land is so busy now that it seems like it's better to plan around your life and family.
Somewhere there is a superthread that shows all the conventions and every school district's recess schedule, it's very detailed, that's better then any supposed crowd calendar. If your type A side needs facts look at that.
- A fellow type A
PS my opinion is the April dates.

I look at these when thinking about a trip. But I do plan the trip for dates that work best for me, knowing there will be crowds whenever I go.

Figment_jii maintains this one for everyone! Here's the one for 2017 - https://www.disboards.com/threads/2017-calendar-of-events-school-breaks-and-dlr.3528760/

The conventions info is here - http://meetings.anaheimoc.org/convention-calendar you can click through the months to see what's scheduled. If you click on the event it usually gives you info about the group numbers.

To OP these two things might give you an idea of what's happening through out the year for DLR and around the Anaheim area.
Good Luck planning.

During the week, in spring, you should be good. Stay away from Easter. Just be aware that it will be refurb season.
