Opinion on romantic resort

Hi,

New to the boards, but thought I'd jump in.

Wanted to get opinions on what you think would be a romantic resort for our anniversary in April.

I have a fairly tight budget, so the Poly, where I'd like to stay is probably out. I've heard CSR is nice, I've been to CBR as well as Contemp. (we stayed there on our honeymoon - can't believe what we paid back then - it was less than the All Stars today!!!)

Thanks for any suggestions.

Go to PO-Riverside! Very Romantic! You can take boats down to DTD at night-very nice. They have a great restaurant too! Ask for top floor so it is quiet and a river view if you can swing it! I think you will like it there.

I would say either POR in one of the Mansion buildings or POFQ, the resort was very nice, and the grounds were beautiful.
Both resorts have the walking path along the river and there are carriage rides as well.

DH and I spent our first anniversary at CBR and thought it was very romantic! The resort is so spread out that we always felt very private and secluded. The quiet pools are fabulous and we had a great time hanging out in th hammocks on the beach. Oh - AKL was super romantic too.

Riverside is my vote.

Please consider AKL! I've stayed there twice and both times felt strongly that it would be a great place for a romantic getaway and it is considerably less expensive than the Poly!

I don't know about it being less then the Poly...but AKL, IMO, is very romantic. Very rustic, nice little niches to get lost in. Granted you can't take long walks outside at the resort...but I feel the 'darkness' (which alot of people dont' like at the resort, but I find to be a non-issue) lends itself to being more secluded and romantic.

I vote for AKL or POR...probably leaning more towards Riverside. The grounds are wonderful to wander and just overall I think it's more of a romantic atmosphere than AKL. Of course, AKL has its perks too.

My niece was just at Wilderness Lodge for her honeymoon and had a beautiful woods view. She said it was very secluded and romantic. WL is a lot cheaper than The Poly and about the same as AKL.

My vote would be for AKL or POFQ. I think POFQ is very romantic, and because it's a smaller and more intimate resort, that adds to the romantic factor.

AKL is incredibly romantic, and with the various discounts, can be had for a moderate cost. Also depending on when you are going, the AKL tends to be quite generous with upgrades when space is available. You could book poolview and have a very good chance of being upgraded to savannah!

Thanks so much for all the suggestions. A friend suggested CSR, but I've always wanted to try POFQ. If we're able to get a good price on WL, I think I'd like that.

We're heading to WL for big #20 anniversary! I am sure that all of the scoop I have learned from DISBoards will help and cannot WAIT! Really, just going w/o kids would do staying ANYWHERE!

Hope you find the place of your dreams. We could have afforded POLY for this big occasion but chose WL over that place for many reasons!

OOh, I'm curious why you didn't like Poly, LATigger. I'll be going on a romantic trip in September with my BF. We chose Poly, but never having been there, we're hoping it's nice.

DH and I just chose the WL over anywhere...we have had lunch at Poly but never stayed there. I have friends that swear by it but the cosy WL and fireplace in Sept. (probably will be 90 degrees though) just seemed what we need. I think the grounds and the trees will be fabulous. The Poly was always what I thought we'd try but this just fits...so many nice people here on the boards have helped give scoop on it all.
