Opinion on Bosch Dishwasher

I got a Bosch dishwasher about 8 years ago and it's great! Cleans well and is very quiet. I don't even know it's running. Highly recommend.

Make sure you look at them before purchasing one. We were sold on Bosch due to the reviews, but when we looked at them, we realized that they just don't hold enough dishes for us. We ended up getting a Whirlpool/Kenmore that is very very quiet, and works wonderfully well.

I loved my Bosch while it worked. It was very quiet and cleaned well. When it was about 9 years old, it stopped working and after 3 failed attempts at repair and several hundred dollars later, we switched to an Kitchen Aid. It is not as quiet as the Bosch, but it is quiet and we can watch TV and talk on the phone while it is running.

We have had 3 different Bosch dishwashers over the past 12 years due to moving and remodeling. We have loved them all. As a family of 5, we haven't had space issues even during dinner parties. I don't like dirty dishes sitting anyway so we always run it at lease every other day. I love how quiet they are. If I had one complaint it would be that the dishes are so hot after washing that I have to let them cool before putting them away. I like to know they are really sterilized though so that's not a real complaint.

Love my Bosch. Have it several years. Got a good deal at Sears. Free installation at the time. Quiet machine

I have a Bosch dishwasher that is now 10 years old and still going strong. I have never had a problem with it. No service repairs whatsoever. It is the quietest dishwasher I have ever owned and the prongs on the rack on the bottom fold down so you can wash larger items on the bottom if you need to. We plan to replace our kitchen appliances in two years when our daughter finishes college and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

Our Bosch is about 8 years old now and has never had any type of repair. I LOVE it - it cleans well, doesn't get mildewy or gross inside, and you can't hear it (at all). We will definitely replace with another Bosch when we need to replace this one.

Thanks for all the reviews. I see today Sears has a good sale on the Bosch 800 plus you get an extra 15% off with the sears card and double the Shop My Way points.

Nothing new to add that hasn't been said, but just wanted to reitterate how quiet ours is! You can't even tell it is running even if you are standing right in front of it. Very big difference from our old house/dishwasher where we couldn't even hear the TV from the next room.

I don't know the terminology, but it cleans so much better than our last one because it has this thing in the middle that comes up and the water isn't just sprayed from the bottom, like in our old one.

The other thing that I like about the Bosch is that the sanitation feature is certified by the National Sanitation Foundation. Great for those cold and flu germs

I like our Bosch better than our last two dishwashers. It is really really quiet. It gets the dishes very clean. We have to self-clean the filter which is simple (take it out, spray it in the sink, put it back in). The down side has been that it holds less and it may not be as durable. The compartment that holds the detergent has broken but is still usable. I would definitely buy a Bosch again and maybe a more expensive model. Ours is the cheapest model.

I think I'm in the minority, but I do not love my Bosch. It doesn't clean any better than my KitchenAid but cost twice the price. Plus, since it is SO quiet (yes, I'll give it credit for that) it has a lot of insulation and doesn't hold nearly as many dishes.

We also have had it serviced twice for broken racks. While the mechanics and such of the d/w might be great, the racks stink. They have been replaced in full (under warranty, thankfully) and are falling apart again. For what we paid for it, I expected far better. I would definitely think twice about replacing it with another Bosch. ..............P

We've had a Bosch for about 3 years -- one of the lower end models, but I don't remember which one. I love it!

I do daycare and I LOVE our Bosch. It's the only dishwasher I haven't burnt out. I do 2-3 loads of dishes per day and had both a GE and a Whirlpool die on me after about a year. This is actually our second Bosch. We had a white one at first because all of our appliances were white, but when we switched to stainless steel, we got the GE and sold our white Bosch because I wanted all the appliances to match. When it died we decided nothing but the Bosch would handle the amount of dishes I do, so we bought another one. It's still going strong! And definitely the quietest we've ever owned.

Bosch are quiet because the dishwashers do not grind and dispose left on food. It gets trapped in the filter and you have to clean it out periodically or you'll have problems.

I am dishwasher shopping, too, and just read an article on the Consumer Reports website about a Bosch being their pick. But, when you read reviews from real people, it's a different story - people repeatedly said they didn't hold as much as their old dishwasher, the prongs that hold plates were very close together and would not hold anything but thin dishes (I guess that means stoneware is out?), when opened, the lower rack would very easily roll off the dishwasher door and onto the floor due to nothing stopping it, the lower rack layout being such that it's difficult to load anything there other than plates, and something else I can't remember. So, while I want a Bosch to be the bomb diggity for me, I'm not so sure at this point.

Here's a link to the Consumer Reports article: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/...he-least-reliable-dishwasher-brands/index.htm

Here's where you can read reviews from real people about what CR says is the best: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/.../overview/bosch-ascenta-shx3ar75uc-d60026.htm

And by "real people" I certainly don't mean you DISers who love your Boschs are fake people :rotfl:

You know... now that I think about it, when I first got it, I did question my decision to pay twice as much as the top-of-the-line American model. All of those complaints above are true... but I guess they don't bother me. It's almost like the technology is so different that you have to learn how to use it. Little things like opening the door as soon as it beeps done, so some of the steam escapes and the dishes dry... and NOT rinsing because things come cleaner when you put them in completely dirty.

Once I figured it out, though... I can pile things in there like crazy and everything comes very clean. I used to have to soak my casserole dishes overnight before putting them in my old dishwasher. I don't do that with my bosch. I put them right in after dinner with all the baked-on food and they come out sparkling clean.

My bosch is a lot different from my old whirlpool in terms of rack design and how much it holds. The 800 series has a third rack for silverware that really makes a difference because you don't have that big silverware basket taking up room. Those fold-down tines are nice for bigger items and that middle adjustable shelf helps a lot.

Another thing that may be a selling point for some is the built-in water softener. I have a whole-house softener, so I don't use it. But, soft water makes a HUGE difference in cleaning dishes. As does the cleaning tab you use.

Hate mine too. We got one in Oct with the third shelf. It holds a lot less than my old one and I hate the tine placement. (Some of mine go down on the top shelf and we keep them down all the time.) The third shelf is cool, but even with that I can't get as many dishes in as I did before. It cleans well and is quiet, but it has a very chemical type smell to it that I hate. We spent $1,000 on it and have considered cutting our losses and trying something else.

Well I bought the dishwasher from Sears with my Sears card and they beat Lowes by $88.00 including the install and delivery.

The built in water softner will be great to cut down on the lime scale build up too which will keep the machine running better.

We just recently replaced all kitchen appliances and decided on Samsung from Lowes and have been very satisfied with all of them!

Another vote in favor of the Bosch... everyone I know has them and loves them. When I remodeled my kitchen a couple of years ago, I didn't even consider another brand. Mine is the 800 series with the third rack for silverware... LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!

We have this one too...love it!
